Back in the low 40's today, so I washed all the salt off the bike. I'm hoping to get it all salty again tomorrow, as it's supposed to be in the upper 60's....but not as sunny as Wednesday was, so that's a bummer. I'm thinking if all goes right I'll ride south, in hopes of even warmer temps.
Yesterday pretty much sucked.
It did get up to 67 degrees, but it was mostly cloudy and i even got rained on, for my last mile of the ride home.
No good weather in sight for weeks, unfortunately.
It was 25 degrees yesterday. Today it was 52. The sun was out, and so was I. I got in 4 hours of therapy. I paid $5.349 a gallon for 93 octane. I had a retirement gift card, so it didn't hurt one bit...lol.
Heading out!
Happy to not be driving my Jeep at this price.
I need a sponsorship.
Beautiful day.
I love moments like this.
I plan on getting more miles this week. I have more retirement gas gift cards!
The sun was out, and temps were supposed to hit the upper 50's, so I decided to hit the road. I wore my Dad's leather's today. He passed away on my birthday this past December and is THE reason I love motorcycles.
I grabbed a snack instead of a full on lunch.
Glamour shot....lol.
My view at Casey's while eating my snack.
A pit stop, in the middle of nowhere...hmm.
Two (hundred) for Tuesday. It did hit 58 degrees today and there was no wind to speak of. Should be warmer tomorrow, but it may be way windier.
Hopped on the bike to take our tax stuff to our guy. It was so nice I ended up 20 miles away, having lunch. I got lost for a bit coming home.
It hit 67 degrees. No heated jacket required, or hat, or gloves.
I haven't been to a KFC for quite a while.
I don't care for the fish partnership.
What was to be a 4 mile trip to drop off my taxes. #retired #noworries
Nice Jeff!
Not sure what your KFC’s are like in Illinois, but I can tell you that here in Ontario they will give you a quick bowel cleansing, whether you need it or not. I know it goes right through me.
That 20 mile stretch away could have a guy peaking before he gets to safe territory back home lol.
Glad you enjoyed the day. Thanks for sharing!

Thankfully I've never come across a KFC like that, but I also don't tempt fate by eating anything "fancy". I stick with the chicken tenders and fries, which are usually safe no matter where I get them.
Spring arrives this Sunday, and I can only hope warmer weather arrives with it. I don't really need to see snow again until December.
Nice! Back to commuting this week between gas prices, the HOV lane & the fact its 50s mornings & 80s afternoons now. Nothing interesting to take pics of but doing about 56 miles a day.
It was a beautiful spring day yesterday. It was sunny and clear, most of the day. Temps started out in the upper 50's, but the temp climbed quickly. I headed south towards Peoria, via Princeton. I zigzagged my way down the Illinois River, crossing all the bridges on the way down and the way back up.
I ran the tank down to "Lo Range" and the needle was about as low as it could go, when I reached the gas station in East Peoria. I still had a half gallon, so a good 20 miles, easy. It's not the first time I've done this, so I didn't have any range anxiety.
I sat and soaked up some sun along the Illinois River, looking over at Peoria.
Just a little snack, before heading back north.
Stopped along the Hennepin Canal for bit.
I made my way to Port Byron, then up to Fulton, where I crossed over into Clinton IA. From Clinton it was up to Sabula. I stopped at the Sabula / Savanna bridge in hopes of getting a few bald eagle photos.
There is a bald eagle in the trees behind my bike....really, it's there.
I was gone for 9 hours, which used to be how long my workday was. Used to be!!
Here's a sequence I got of a bald eagle snagging a fish.
The fact that these birds can see these fish, from way up high is amazing all by itself.
The fact that they can grab them is even more amazing.
That's a big fish in them there talons. The eagle flew to a nearby tree and chowed down on its catch. These pics are heavily cropped, because even with my 400mm lens wasn't enough reach for how far away this bird was. I'm not overly happy with the quality of this sequence, but sometimes you gotta take what you get.
The weather has gone to crap again, cool and rainy, so I may not be riding again anytime real soon.
