Default Adventure with the “Scorpios”

January 5, 2019.

Yesterday we took another island excursion heading to the north side.
We must say that this island compared to Sao Miguel in the Azores is much different. The Azores was a mountainous volcanic island where as Aruba is flat and desert like with a great abundance of cactus all over.
We ventured to an island tourist attraction called the “Natural Bridge”. Although the original bridge collapsed on its own in 2005 the scenery there was amazing.
The route to get there was what we would call, less than favorable. The road was mostly a rough dirt road with all kinds of potholes to maneuver around. “Hang on to your dentures!”

Cheers, Terry

The road is paved on the approach but not behind us.

The gift shop at the bridge. Bring some money with you as they charge $1 US to use the restroom here. Typical tourist grab!

This is the bridge that collapsed in 2005.

A smaller natural bridge that has formed beside the original.

Very constant rough seas on this side of the island island

No swimming here!

Default Adventures with the “Scorpios”

January 6, 2019.

We took a drive and spent some time in the main town of Oranjestad, Aruba.
Besides the airport the town has many restaurants and shops as this is where the cruise ships dock on one of the stopovers.
This Dutch island is famous for its jewelery and there are a few stores located in the downtown area.

We had some lunch here and a cold beer, and of course, had to visit the Harley Davidson store.
There is another HD store in the high rise tourist section of the island that we will visit also.

Cheers, Terry

“Lucy’s” on the main pier where we had lunch.

Cold Beer here for $7 US.

The pier for deep sea fishing and snorkeling tours here.

Looking down the Main Street of Oranjestad.

Downtown Oranjestad Harley Davidson store.

Default Adventures with the “Scorpios”

January 7, 2019.

Yesterday (Sunday) we decided to head over to the tourist shopping area of the high rise section on the island. This is where I mentioned that there is another Harley Davidson store.
But, when we arrived (about a 5 minute drive) much to our surprise we found out all the stores are closed on Sunday.
We were very confused as this is a highly accommodating tourist area, with the likes of the Hyatt Regency, Holiday Inn, Marriot resorts all dotted along the beach.
All we could say is it must be an island thing.
We ended up walking the boardwalk on the beach and stopping for a drink, and Mrs. Scorpio also convinced me to stop at one of the local casinos and of course, make a donation lol
Enjoy the photos!

Cheers, Terry

The Harley store in the high rise tourist area.

The shopping district Main Street.

Another view showing a high rise in the distance.

A highly recommended rib place. We will visit this restaurant this evening.

The “Moomba Bar” at the beach. A very popular spot!

Palm Beach in the High Rise resort area of the island.

Stopped in to make a “donation” to this establishment!

Along the boardwalk we came across this Harley. It is only the second one we have seen on the island since we arrived.

Default Adventures with the “Scorpios”

January 8, 2019.

As of today we have toured much of the island and visited most of the attractions.
Last evening we went to Smokey Joes for their famous ribs, and they sure didn’t disappoint us.
The ribs were absolutely delicious!
We are here until Sunday the 13th so we plan on taking the rest of our time here to relax, enjoy the beach, the food, wine and beer.
If we come across some interesting things we will be sure to post.
Thanks for following along on our latest adventure.

Cheers, Terry

Thanks Rocky.

The Hogs for Hospice ride in Leamington, Ontario is one of our best and most rewarding rides that us Harley riders can do on a motorcycle.
Although my mom and dad were fortunate enough to pass in 2018 without hospice help, any participation we can do to help those truly in need of a hospice to help ease the pain of losing a loved one is very rewarding.
These hospice people really deserve a shout out.
We already have rooms booked for the 2019 Hogs for Hospice in Leamington for August 2 - 4th and we will be there!

Cheers, Terry
