Took my '16 RGS on its (and mine) first trip on any significant distance over the long weekend. I rode from Phoenix AZ over to Albuquerque NM. Just took 17 north to 40 and rode 40 all the way in. Just shy of 500 miles to get there. Once in NM, we went up to Sandia Crest and over to Madrid. It was a really good ride! Took the same way back home to Phoenix. Over all, just over 1100 miles for the weekend.
After riding distance, I am now more hooked than I was and am already starting to plan my next trip!

It really is different. I've made that trip in my truck a few times and I swear everything looked different. On the bike I noticed just how awesome the scenery is out here on this side of the country!
I can think of more scenic routes to ABQ than the 17 to the 40. Ugh, you must like dodging tractor-trailers? Glad you enjoyed the trip nonetheless.
Oh yeah, there are a lot more scenic routes. Next time I will be going a different route. This was more of a test to see how I did on the bike and not as much about the route. My brother lives out there so I have a place to stay/reason to go, and plan on making more trips in the near future.
