Default April trip BRP weather

Found out yesterday the ol' lady going to be off a week the
second week of April . Trying to think of where to go for the
first trip of the year . I'm wondering if anyone knows if that
is probably too early in the year to go up on the Blue Ridge
Parkway ? I've been on it in the summer , but never in the
spring .

I have been reading up on the BRP, thinking about going near the end of May.
IMO you are likely to see inclement weather in April,Probably cool to cold with lots of rain and dense AM fog. Depends on your comfort level.

I can deal with cold, I can deal with rain. But one October there was both, around Boone Nc. I gave up. Soon as I left the high elevations it warmed up. So plan for it but don’t be surprised if you have to come down off the mountain.

It's hit or miss up here thru April and into May......For example, Today it was 60°, 2 days ago it was in the teens......

Best thing I can tell you is check back closer to your leave date or, pull some zip codes from some addresses along your ride and get some NOAA forecasts......

Generally speaking, during that time of year, bad weather doesn't last long.....Its bad right before and during a front passing thru, then it's ok until the next front......So we get "windows" of good weather that may last 3 or 4 days, or longer.....then a wait till the next front passes......Of course all bets are off if we get a low that stalls out over top of us....lol....

Actually I've found some of the best riding to be just after a front passes......

Thanks for the help . I kind of figured the weather probably wouldn't
be too good . I think I'll just turn my attention south for this trip .
