To the OP - if say do it. Go the week of, and enjoy it. That's when the rally is. Otherwise, you might as well go in June. LMAO!

I’ve gone 4 out of the last 5 years and I just can’t get enough. I go about two days before the rally and two during the rally. 1550 mile trip one way for me. I love getting the, “You rode all the way up here??!
maybe some day..... too many other great places around the country to hit. I would love to walk down main street once during the rally. But would really love to ride more than walk!!! Regardless, hope that those of you that do go have a good and safe trip!!
There are 3 relatively new motels off of I-90 on the east end of Rapid City that always have a vacancy sign posted even during the 75th. Their rate during Sturgis is $250/night. Can't recall their brands. They are all 4 to 5 story.
I have gone 14 of the last 15 years and never run out of places to ride.
You can look here. http://www.ironhorseinnsturgis.com They had rooms all the way up till the first day of last years Rally. Also it’s a few miles away from downtown Sturgis.
We booked a room through Airbnb . Thanks for the input from other members. It’s snowing big time in western Illinois. It’s a little hard to imagine riding now but looking forward to the trip.

what are they gonna say when I ride my Panhead the whole way?
This is the first and likely only chance im going to get to go to sturgis. i liveless than 500 miles away and the whole family will be gone so why not? Granted its not a long ride, but you better believe i will be riding the sporty 883. Im anning on buying a military shelter half and camping at one of the campsites there. Big enough for just me and plenty small enough to pack on the bike. Taking a change of clothes and clean socks. No other riding gear. If it rains (i know it will) then ill just get wet. Im a former infantryman so ill be all set. Lol I just need recommendations on campsites. Thinking of glencoe only because its the only one i know of.
