I think I recall that you can't ship the Bourbon out of Kentucky... something like that. I really liked Buffalo Trace but whoever said the trail is great riding is absolutely spot on... I never knew there was so much big money in Kentucky until I rode the trail. Most of the best riding beyond the trail is in Eastern Kentucky... I like the Hal Rogers Parkway and while you're at it you can hit the Country Music trail and come up 23 to the HR Parkway and head west to the Bourbon Trail. Great, great riding... southwestern Virginia for the Country Music trail up through South Eastern Kentucky and across the middle and upper Kentucky blue grass country...

With the mention of brewing, I'll throw in Country Boy Brewing near Cynthiana. They have a cool facility there. West 6th is also a good place to stop. For great riding along with the bourbon distillery stops, I'd stick with the ones around the Lexington/Frankfort/Versailles area such as Woodford, Wild Turkey, Four Roses. There's less traffic and more scenery i.e. horse farms and such in that area.

Great thread. I'll second the statements about the ride quality in bourbon and horse country. Kentucky has a number of official roads designated as parkways. Bluegrass, Bert T Combs, and Hal Rogers (formerly Daniel Boone) Parkways are all very scenic. Appalachia riding doesn't get a lot prettier (and with less traffic) than eastern Kentucky. The area also holds Red River Gorge which has more natural stone arches than most people realize. The hiking, scenery and photographic qualities always amaze me.

You're going to "motorcycle riding heaven". As noted in some of the posts - your best distillery tour will be the Buffalo Trace - it's absolutely fantastic and doesn't cost a penny where all the other distilleries charge admission and some even charge in the tasting room - at BT tour and samples (lots) are free. One of the nicest towns is Bardstown - lots of history, great brew pubs and relatively inexpensive motels.
I've ridden through a lot of country and Ky, WV, VA and Tenn have some of the best motorcycle rides.
ENJOY!
