Default Warm attire in Dragon Area

Headed to the Smokey MTNS June 18th. Planning some blueridge towards Little Switzerland, Maybe down towards Helen GA one day, Cherohola and the Dragon and whatever else we can fit in.

This time of year would it be advisable to have leathers(warm gear) or just a pretty good jacket be sufficient?
Plan to stay in Maggie Valley the 18th through the 22nd.

Thanks!!

I was there last summer, you may need warming gear at night.

Temps in that area are in the 80's during the day and the 60's at night. Depending on where you are, they can vary by as much as 15 degrees in the higher elevations. If you plan to ride at night and how cold nature you are would determine your need for very warm gear. I would at least take a leather jacket.

Never tour without a leather, gloves etc. Mountains, things can happen fast. Good luck.

You may find rain gear useful also.
"Warm gear" definitely if you ride much after dark.

Rain gear can be used as a back up for winter gear if things go sideways.

Just came back from there. Rain gear works well as a warm covering if needed. Morning were a cool mid 60's latter in the day mid to upper 80's did not need much for warmth. We had a lot of rain that week and a half but it was still great.
Economy is booming so very crowed every where. If you plan rides leave out early

Cool temps in the morning in the higher elevations. I have experienced 45-50 going up the parkway out of Maggie in June.

And yes rain gear for sure, think I've only been there once where I didn't need it.

I'm starting into my 50th year of riding and I'll share one (actually two) pieces of some of the most valuable info that you may ever receive.
Never, ever, leave on a trip without your leather (removable lining if possible) jacket and a rain suit.
If you're "tight" for space, throw the leather jacket over your luggage, cover it with your rain suit and bungee cord it in place.

Extended ride times, even in 60 degree weather can be very uncomfortable and if you add in some moisture it can lead to a miserable trip.
I carry an extra jacket (light or heavy) depending on the time of year and THREE pairs of gloves (heated in cooler climate and vented for hot).
Proper gear can make or break a trip.
