Just did a short notice unplanned ride from Philadelphia to Enid OK to attend my uncle's funeral. Stretched it out to 3,200 miles in 4 1/2 days of riding and did some back roads in OK and KS
From location to location? SE Texas to Eureka Springs, AR to Cape Girardeau, MO Is it a straightest route type or is a whimsical see were the road takes you kinda trip? Straightest route there and then daily rides on planned routes through NE Arkansas/SE Missouri then onto Cape Girardeau (family visit) Are you riding by yourself or with a group (size of the group)? Me, myself and I Preparations to the bike? Oil change, brake pads Pre-planning or off the cuff? Both Minimum miles you expect to cover on this trip? 2,000 Camping or Hotel? Hotel Must have equipment? From location to location? West Haven, Utah to West Haven, Utah (2 Weeks)
Is it a straightest route type or is a whimsical see were the road takes you kinda trip? Planned route taking in all the sites of the Pacific Coast Hwy
Sites you are for sure going to see? Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Alcatraz, Street Cars, Pacific Coast Hwy (San Fran up into WA), Avenue of the Giants, Redwoods, Bandon Game Safari Park (MUST SEE), Tillamook Cheese Factory, Astoria OR, 17 or so Lighthouses up the coast and Waterfalls along Columbia River Gorge.
If you're both seafood fans, you're going to roll past some incredible options north of San Francisco and Point Reyes for BBQed oysters + other goodies. Notably, Hog Island Oyster Company, Tony's Seafood, the Marshall Store, + Nick's Cove. The Marshall Store + Tony's Seafood are my faves. All are pricey, but worth a stop.
Otherwise, a little further up the road in Bodega Bay are two awesome options for crab + clam chowder: Spud Point Crab Company (recently featured on the show "Ride with Norman Reedus") and Fisherman's Cove. Both are great. Note that they're both off of Highway 1 on the way out to Bodega Head, which is worth a quick detour.
If you need any other tips for the Bay Area, holler.
I am planning on riding the blue ridge parkway in a month
Great riding, I grew up there riding the Parkway and still do it never gets old even though it's a 3 hour ride to get there. Darn I have to ride to go riding
My in-laws still live about a mile off the Parkway so we get up there a lot bring a jacket still cool in the mornings and evenings. My avatar pic is from the Parkway and you might see it but it depends it's gets stolen often.

From: Eastern foothills of Shenandoah Mountains, Virginia
Blue Ridge Parkway, VA, to Madison, Georgia
Planning from western Virginia down Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, merge into Blue Ridge Parkway in Smokey Mountains,
then to Madison, Georgia.
Anybody have suggestions on the last leg, what routes from Blue Ridge Parkway to Madison, approaching Madison from west or north?

Beautiful ride!
We've done this trip before, spending our first night near the Flight 93 Memorial and then heading to Front Royal, VA.
The last time we attempted this trip (several years ago) we got caught in bad weather on the SLD and it took us nearly 5-1/2 hours to do that 105 piece of mountain road!
Aborted the BRP plan in Waynesboro and headed down the super-slab and we were the ONLY motorcycles (dumb enough) to be riding that day!
Called it quits that evening in Gastonia, NC. The next day was a gorgeous ride into SC!
Watch the weather forecast, ride safely and enjoy!
Since retiring 5 years ago I've made it through 47 of the 48 continental U.S. and all of the lower provinces of Canada...so this June I'll meeting up with my riding buddy in Colorado and heading to Cabo San Lucas via Yosemite, Pacific Coast Hwy and on down the Baja Peninsula....Hotels all the way. Just put new tires on and will change all 3 holes before leaving and again in Colorado before heading back to FL sometime in September. Basic tool kit and flat repair and pump because of the Baja being so desolate. Denver becomes like a home base as that is where my sons live...also good for multiple rides in the mountains along with a side trip for a couple of weeks to visit friends in Sheridan, WY.
