Default Headed out West to Utah. Need input

Its been a while since I have posted on here, but I will give it a try and see what kind of input I get. Leaving Texas and we are gonna travel to Salt Lake, Utah. Have never been that way, and are going to start by traveling to Carlsbad, and then to Hillsboro, NM, and then to Silver City, NM, then to Globe, AZ. From there to Flagstaff, and then we will do some touring around that area.
My big question is if any of you folks have traveled North on 89 from Arizona into Utah. We want to stay in one of those little towns(like, Hatch, oderville, etc) and do some riding the area. Just not sure at all about how good the area is for touring, and where to stay. Also want to take a drive into Springdale on 9, as it really looks cool, tunnels and all. Here's the big question..........If I had the choice between hiway 9, and hiway 12, which would be the best out of those 2? Cannot see it all, but would like to make the best of it.
Look forward to replies and info.

We stay in Hatch. There are two biker friendly motels. One on each end of town. It is between Bryce and Zion and inexpensive. Only one place to eat, but it is good and inexpensive and the staff is pleasant. They even helped us cobble up a birthday muffin for our friend. Last time we stayed at Hatch Station, but Galaxy is good and is next door to the restaurant.

We'll at Galaxy next time. We got a deal at Hatch by calling. Galaxy is a little less to begin with, but most travelers stay closer to the destination and the more resort style motels. We were only bikes there end of May.

On either route(s) you can't go wrong!

We've be on both and enjoyed them and whatever you don't see this time you can do the next time.
That is my wife's favorite places to ride and tour and no doubt we'll go (or at least try to go) again someday.

If you have an opportunity to try Indian Fry Bread do so. You will not be disappointed!

I spent a couple of nights in a motel in Mt Carmel. Nice older place. Camped a few nights last year at Ruby's at Bryce Canyon. Hwy 12 is one of my favorite roads anywhere in the country.

Default 89A North to Jerome & Sedona

Depending on what time of year you are going ...it will be very hot in Prescott valley in the summer but gets better heading up ....Great bike bar on corner in Jerome with lots of shops for the wife to see , if passing thur during the day, many places have the shirt (i survived 89A) ...
Sedona should be done on clear day ...for the color of the surrounding cliffs...(you'll see why) ...lots of shops and places to eat ...
Great ride ...enjoy..!!!

We will be riding starting Mid June and be in that area the 20th or so. Hope it isn't too hot. They still have snow in some places currently.
Not sure if the rain will be in place or what to expect.

I did both 9 and 12 last year coming out of Moab. I took 95 up from US 191 to Hanksville, 24 over to 12 down to Bryce Canyon. Spent a couple days camping in the area. From there I took 89 South to Mt Carmel Junction, then 9 to I-15. Both 9 and 12 are spectacular.

Thank you very much for the info. We are going to spend a few days in the area to be able to make a few trips.
Then get to Salt Lake by the 24th.
