Agreed, the weather this 'summer' is the worst I can remember since moving to Canada some 25 yrs. ago ! I have hardly managed 2 days in a row when I can get on the bike, hope it clears up soon before I go mad ! South Dakota is the best if the sun is shining, good luck.

I totally understand. On this trip off the boat there has only been 4 days of riding weather. I hope July is nicer. But if you are loooing for some decent rides in the state try the UP.
We've had some great luck with good riding weather in and around Utah.
HOT in the summer months and it can also be very COOL in the fall, especially in the higher elevations!.
One of our favorite trips was just after Labor Day.
We trailered our bikes to Clovis, NM and stored the truck and trailer and did a 2,000+ mile "loop" up through Albuquerque, NM, the Utah Canyons and back through Carlsbad (Caverns) N.M.
We NEVER hit rain, though it looked at times that we may at any time.
We did "miscalculate" the amount and types of clothes that we needed but we managed to get by with buying a couple of heavier shirts to wear under our leathers.
And YES, this has been an awful riding season thus far here in Michigan!
I check multiple routes and destinations daily.
Riding in the rain happens on a long ride. But leaving in the rain and riding thru it for damned near everyday........sheesh, cold n wet, not much fun in that. Looking to leave Sat so guess I'll keep checking
