Last Thursday, left the house on the bike and rode the Cherohala Skyway to get away from the heat in the lower climes. After finishing that, I rode Wayah Road and then back on hwy 28 to the "Dragon" and to the house. In all it was a good 8 hours of riding. The lack of rain lately, in our area, is causing the leaves to come off the trees prematurely so it won't be long that rain will make the leaves slippery on the roads.
Of course you could ride over on the "Dragon" and then ride Wayah, either way it makes for a good days ride.
No pics this time but when I ride Wayah again, I'll be sure to take a good camera.
BTW You guys that like to stay in Wears valley or Townsend could come back on the Foothills Parkway as the newly opened "missing link" ends in Wears Valley...Just a hop over the ridge from Townsend.
We just got back from there last Thur. We stayed in Wears Valley in a cabin, next time, I'll want to stay in Maggie Valley. Spent 5 days riding the area and put on 1200 miles or so doing it.
Very nice to leave the house and spend the day like that and return home. Kind of jealous. Wayah is one of my favorites.
+1
Canceled a trip for this weekend due to family health issues. Will go in October for the leaf changing. I wish i could be a snowbird and stay up there in the summer.
