Seneca Rocks WV

How long does it take to walk from the visitors ctr to that observation deck? At a nice, leisurely pace! A couple of us are riding down on Friday from upstate PA. Bridge Day on Saturday, and then Sunday, 33 to Seneca Rocks before heading north again.

45 minutes, time stamp at the trailhead to the pic of her sitting on a rock at the crest. Warning, yoga wife gets up at 4am to go swimming. YMMV

I went up the front side then came down the back side trail several years ago. It was well worth the walk as I remember. The entire treck was a couple hours I guess but I was a lot younger back then. lol

Post some pics please. I camped in the park across from the Post Office for a couple weeks in 1972. Worked for Buck Harper bucking hay bales. Buck owned the general store, it had a visible gas pump and the phone booth out front had a crank phone. Wonder if the stores still there. Nice people and fond memories.

The town was called Mouth of Seneca then. Soldiers were trained in rock/Mt climbing on the Rocks in WWII before being sent to Europe.

Vernal, yes the store's still there. Rain on Sunday, and there was so much fog we couldn't even see the treetops in front of the rocks! Needless to say, no climbers that day!

Too bad, that town was froze in time, Not that that was a bad thing. I was hitchhiking around and just fell in love with the place. The Lady at the post office would step outside and announce “ Billy, Billy mail call” when I would get a letter General Delivery, then I’d walk across the street and visit for a while. I had hair to the middle of my back then and I think I was such an anomaly and so approachable that I was accepted.
