Default Duluth to Minot

Hi guys! I’m looking forward to restrictions easing and hopefully the opportunity to get out on the road for some touring. Have any of you traveled Hwy 2 from Duluth, MN to Minott, ND? I’m curious what the route is like - road conditions, interesting stops along the way, scenery, etc. Any information or insights are appreciated!

Thanks!!

May I expand the question (route) further to Theodore Roosevelt National Park?
Thank you!

There's a nice stretch N of Grand Rapids on 38 to Bigfork, then you can catch 6 back to US 2. You could also take Scenic 7 from 169 to Bigfork then S on 38.

We did Route 2 from White Fish MT to Mackinaw City in 2013, real nice road. Speed limit is high, road conditions are smooth and no people on the road. Every 45 minutes you run into a one horse town, then back to being all by yourself. Would recommend. Teddy Roosevelt park was also very nice, looks like the South Dakota Badlands, but with green tones. Also the most Buffalo we ever got stuck in the middle of on the park loop. Overall that sounds like a nice ride.

Highway 2 is a pretty ride from Duluth to Grand Forks. From Grand Forks to Minot is decent but mostly featureless plains of North Dakota. Mostly four lane and in good shape in North Dakota and western Minnesota.

South of Bemidji is lake Itasca. Headwaters of the Mississippi. Cool to see the beginning of the Mississippi River where it's so small you can walk over it.

When I took 2 a couple of years ago it was a great ride. The road was in excellent shape. There were plenty of places to get rec gas (non ethanol premium), neat little places to see, some great places to eat and the surprises of having a bump on the horizon take an hour to finally come into view. Also the diversity of what was growing in the fields was great. I remember driving through sunflowers for like 30 mins.
