Wondering if y'all have been on the Blue Ridge Parkway this year!
We've been up there four times this year. Covered from Little Switzerland North to Meadows of Dan. Actually the first time was in January! Got a beautiful weather break. If we get the bike back from the shop this week we plan to head of to Freebornes on Saturday.
Burned a tank of gas up there today......near perfect riding.....sunny, 75 with a light breeze.....and almost no traffic....100 miles and might have seen 20 cars.....got off near Boone, lunch at Publix and 421 back home.....
Check the NPS web site before you go. Sections of the parkway have been closed recently. Several spots near Roanoke where the road washed out due to rain/storms. There were other closures near the northern end (Afton Mountain) - not sure if that area has been opened back up.

what I saw was a couple sections of road closed, less than 5 miles pieces. So Im assuming the closing and doing a detour instead of flagging. Probably cant get enough people to flag.
rode to telco plains yesterday, Kats dinner is open again. Great food and premium seating over the River
Talked to a friend today, hes here in the Smokies with me, didntt realize he came south on the BRP to get here. He said there was only one section closed and that was due to a landslide. Just a short conversation. Ill pick his brain more. Im planning to stop at Blueridge motorcycle campground when I lane here. Also Willville.
only been up twice this year.... first trip was so foggy we bailed at Tuggles Gap, and opted to ride VA-8 in a down pour, as the better option
Second time.... road is washed out near Roanoke
as always conditions change often.... check https://www.nps.gov/blri/index.htm
