Default Coffee on the Road...

Many times I'm up and out before coffee is available nearby. I don't use room coffee.
Do any of you bring your own setup for the room?

Huh. Gd question.

Not for coffee.

When I know I am going to be remote, not all places to stay have breakfast. So at those times I carry dehydrated milk, dry cereal, paper bowls and a plastic spoon. None of which my friend CB, takes up any real room or is heavy.

I can't remember every bringing my own coffee. I think even the crappiest of places to stay like Knights Bridge 'n such have room coffee. As bad as that may be.

Huh. Gd question.

I am interested in what others will say.

More trouble than it’s worth. Ride until I see a McDonalds.

Yeah, that's what I usually do too. But the Montana ride last year was hit or miss at McD. Some drive-through only (which didn't work), some you could order inside and sit outside. Half the gas stations didn't have it ready yet. Was hoping someone had a NewFangled Coffee Magic thing going on..

Go ahead and cringe.... . On road trips I carry some instant coffee. I'd rather have that then crappy hotel weak colored water.
I microwave a thermos full of water, twice as much instant and I'm good.
Now that's only done when there is nothing else better around like Duncan Donuts, Starbucks or even a Mickey D's.
There's some decent stuff out there. Some even comes in bags like tea.

Now that's a fine idea... Hadn't thought of it and don't drink instant.. But I think that would do in a pinch on the road..
Might have to do that route for a backup!

The Starbucks Via instant is not too bad. I buy a big pack of it at Costco for road trips. I've had worse for sure.

McD's is generally safe, or out in the West (mostly Utah/Idaho/Wyoming) Maverik gas stations have decent coffee.

I have a bad feeling when it comes to the hotel room coffee makers. Like maybe one of the previous occupants pissed in it, or something along those lines.

I've never used the in room machine for that reason.
I like the Starbucks instant too.
You can carry Cremora and sugar in small zip locks.

I sometimes carry coffee drinks that come in a small can.....About 6 or 8 oz.....Cafe Bustelo makes some as does Starbucks......Ready to drink.....Right outta the can or pour into cup and nuke for a minute.......

On longer hauls I carry OTC caffeine pills, just in case......You can get 100 or 200 mg doses....About the same as a cuppa......

I also carry instant coffee/tea fixins.....Microwave a cup of water in the room to make......

I just don’t like using the hotel room coffee machines. Ya never know what some did to or in them.

I admit I have a coffee addiction. So, we always try to pick where we stay where we can get food, drink, and morning breakfast and coffee. Every once in a while it doesn’t work. But, I certainly wouldn’t go to the extent of trying to pack some kind of coffee maker. We had some challenges on our trip last July in Colorado...and once stopping in Park City I couldn’t find any coffee before 8:00, as it was off season. I smelled some at a house, and I almost knocked on their door.
