Not sure where you are in Northern MI - but, from Lake Orion, it is about 700 or so miles. Could be a nice ride

We're near north end of Torch Lake so we always go north before going west. Stopped at a cousin's house in western Wi. and then rode to Iowa. We weren't in any sort of hurry so we took in the sights of Wi. and Iowa. There's some awfully good people in that neck of the woods.

When you're in Iowa, might as well stop at James T. Kirks future birthplace.

And...

I remember staying at a Best Western in White Bear when my wife and I took a ride up into Canada several years ago. I lived in IA for a majority of my life and have traveled throughout the state. As far as riding I often gravitated towards the Mississippi River and found the north east area of the state to be the most scenic and interesting. I would recommend riding up to the top of Mount Hosmer Park in Lansing for a great view overlooking the river.

Another fun stop is the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque.

Neither of these would be very far off your pathway.

Greg is right on the money. City park above Lansing is something to see, kind of a fun little road getting up there also. The museum in Dubuque is pretty nice, we take the grandkids there about once a year. Field of Dreams isn’t really much to see. We haven’t been there for a few years and I think the original owners have sold it (I think Frank Thomas bought it, the guy that sells the testosterone pills on TV) so maybe they have changed things. Was just a farm house with a baseball field in a corn field (just like the movie) with a little souvenir stand built in front. Some really nice riding all up and down the Mississippi River and most of Northeast Iowa. We live about 20 minutes from the Field of Dreams in Dyersville. Backbone State Park is just about 30 minutes East of Dyersville. It’s Iowa’s first State Park and a really nice park to ride through with a motorcycle. Go North out of there and some nice riding and pretty country on Hwy. 13. Hope you have a good trip. Seems like people in this part of the state seem to really enjoy talking to people on motorcycles. Good luck and safe travels.😀

I've been to the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa and enjoyed it, John Parham and friends created a first class exhibit that is worth the stop. I would go there again when in the area.

If you're in that area around labor day the Chief Blackhawk Swap Meet is another don't miss event in Dubuque.
