Itchin to get over there again
The roads into and out of Helen can be nice if it is not a National Holiday.
If you are on a budget the sandwiches are good at the old time grocery store at the end of main street and you can eat it outside at a table or rocker.
You pay for parking in Helen and it is a small walkable town of about 3 blocks.
Have you been to Tallulah Gorge ? It is near Helen, Ga
Tallulah Gorge is a nice place to see a short film, see waterfall and take a short hike..do not remember but is was about $5.
It was a Deliverance film location...squeal like a pig fame..read about it online.
Regarding Robbinsville NC:
Ride Moonshiner 28 to Fontana Dam and visit Dam (FREE) then lunch at Fontana Village, Ride the Dragon, Lunch/dinner at Tapoco Lodge, See the Maple Springs Overlook for a grand view before entering Cherohala then ride Cherohala towards Tellico, See small fall (Bald River falls? that requires slight detour near end of Cherohala near Tellico, eat at the new Grill (Iron works Grill) along the water in Tellico just across the road from the Harley T-shirt shop. Then Charles Hall museum (2 places across from each other/ small donation).
Then ride 360 north to Vonore with a stop at Fort Lourdoun (free I believe) and then over the bridge going East then to 72 going south that kinda sorta becomes 129 (Dragon) back towards Robbinsville NC.
The above can make for a very very busy full day trip or a more relaxed 2 day option or mix with other trips.
A trip via Moonshiner 28 through the Dragon and then Riding the Foothills Parkway towards Gatlinburg area to see Grist Mill (free) and Ride the very slow Roaring Fork Road (early morning) in Gatlinburg can be nice too.
Caution: Roaring Fork Road is a free ONE WAY slow speed road (first gear) and you are committed once you enter so try to go early morning only or late in the day. It is a paved road but there are loose little rocks in the center of the road that can be slippery on hills and turns if stuck in bumper to bumper traffic when a bear is spotted. Judge traffic before entering.
There are several maps that help to understand the area but a look at Google Earth online will give you an idea of the ride if you zoom into the road.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
60 is a great ride in either direction. Also, Wolfpen Gap Road from Suches to Blairsville is an A+ ride. Dahlonega has a great downtown with interesting shops and good restaurants. You really cant go wrong in that area.
