One thing I have to be careful of is riding too much of a destination road in one day. One of my bucket list rides is from St George Utah thru Escalante to Blanding. at Hwy 95 and 191. That's about 380 miles which I can do easily in a day. So if I'm going to do this ride, stop and enjoy the sights and attractions what is a reasonable amount of time to allow. Just for info I don't intend to leave the bike to do any hikes. Any help appreciated.
Figure about 10-12 hours and make sure you get gas when you can like in Hanksville. Not much between there and Blanding but it's a spectacular ride.
Fry Canyon is a ghost town so there's nothing there,we made the mistake of not filling in Hanksville and were low on gas when we found that out.
Not much traffic or anything out there but we backtracked to a boat launch at Hite and were lucky to find a cardlock pump, nobody there at all but we got gas.
I wouldn't bet on it still being available though, that was 15-20 years ago and the lake is way low so it may have closed down.
You'll want to visit Zion Nat. Park while you're in St. George and Bryce Canyon on your way to Escalante and after stopping to take in the view at Glen Canyon you'll want to visit Natural Bridges Nat. Monument.
Here's a couple pics from Glen Canyon.
Oh and take plenty of water, not sure when you're going but it can get very hot down there even in the spring and fall so be prepared and wear your sunblock.
Check out Moki Dugway. Been there several times on touring bike. You won’t be sorry. Also Gooseneck State Park. South of Mexican Hat about mm13 is sign where Forrest Gump stopped running!

Do you wanna give him a "heads up" abt the Moki? 'juss say'n. If u are not expecting THAT road and happen to come across it....well, he may sh*t a brick. Or maybe, THIS emoticon is more in order......
'n if he is going there, he should also checkout Mules Point. At the bottom of the Moki a few miles away.
Watch for the "Open Range" signs. Came over a ridge to horses and cattle
Glen Canyon is cool to ride thru.
Hanksville or bust.
Moki is a fun ride.
Deer on Escalante.
Enjoy!

Good point. I like coming in from south so you are going uphill. Been both directions several times, but that is my preference. Straightaway is packed gravel. Curves are paved. You are going to be going slow! At top to the left is Muley Point Road. All dirt. Sometimes you can take it .sometimes its just too much dust and you cant. But if you can about 4 miles to the end is the most amazing overlook you will ever see! It will be one of the highlights of the trip!
