My stop when en route to a place I need to be are ruled by fuel. How much fuel I need or do not need depend on How fast I ride .Also if I have sidecar on or off. Sidecar on and riding at higher speed stops will be made at 2 hours or slightly less.
Go for the ride you will figure it out.

The Deuce is a great bike for around town, but not a touring machine.
Have you considered a different seat?

Granted I prefer touring bikes.

I usually ride 3-400 miles per day on my Heritage. Usually take 2 or 3 road trips per year. One day of almost every road trip is a bit longer at 500 miles. No ill effects. I'm 71 now and expect this to continue for at least another few years.

Thank you guys for all the good advice, I will indeed take a couple 1-200 mile trips to see where the comfort level is and, sort some things with the bike. I have a touring seat, bought it for when the wife wants to go for a ride. I'm certain I'll be using that for the trip. Oh ya I will be riding from Idaho down to Az through Nevada.. So ya, nothing to see, well except the mountains around Ely. It's a 2 lane almost the whole way but, the speed limit is 70 so, I hope to make good time. I've never done a trip this long on any of my bikes I've had through the years, I don't want to be saying later in life "I should have rode my bike there" Probably sounds kind of silly to the guys that can crank out the miles.. But no wife or kids this time, just me and the bike on a trip. Anyway, thank you guys! Now let me know what should be a must to ride with me (supplies)

The worst thing on any trip is trying to cram to much into the route.

The bests part is leaving so much extra time you end up 2 states from where you planned to be.

Don't make the ride a job. enjoy it no pressure no BS.

Wife and I will be forced to do a 1,000 mile day in May. On the way home from VA. After plans were made a family thing came up we need to be at. And we are not willing to leave a day early.

Fuzz ... We're all different ... Weather, head winds, traffic, road conditions all play a part in traveling ... Age too ... I've had days when a couple of hundred miles beat my a$$ ... and days when I could go on forever ... Red and I have hammered down 800 miles ( two up ) in a day on several occasions but I couldn't do that anymore ... Pick a pace that your comfortable with for the first day then adjust for the second ... Good luck and ride safe

Done that route a couple of times now, back and forth, and doing it again next month. You should be fine knocking out your desired 3-400 per day.

I think that is all you can really do. See what you like. And it may change with some ache, hip or back one day. Big trips I really enjoy just with OL. Take a break when we want. I got to pee a lot too.

Leaving early gives you the most amount of daylight, and most time to take plenty of brakes. stop and have beer in the afternoon. Breaks are good.

A good firm seat. I like sheepskins too. Some like gelpads, they probably do help . When I did 900 mile days, I forced my self to changed positions routinely, move hands and legs to diffrent spots.

Do a r300 round trip back to home ride. I have not done any trips in a a few years. So I did 350 miles just to check out UP knife shop. Spent to much money.
