I concur with Canadian rocky. There are only a few changes I’d make because this is my back yard. He is absolutely correct that for the coast and rattlesnake, N to S provides the rider a better view and on the coast, easier pull offs. Following his recommendations you’ll get a good picture of the beauty of the Northwest. Once in Sandpoint, think going to the sun.

Great suggestions from CanadianRocky.

It's a tough call on some of the routes because there are so many great rides and things to see in Oregon. Depending on how your plans work out and how far you ride each day, I's try to work in Hwy 126 from Florence (on the Oregon coast) to Eugene and through McKinzey to Scenic Byway 242 to Sisters and then 126 again and 20 to Bend. There are lava beds on the Scenic Byway about half way to Sisters. It winds through the mountains and at times you can not see the sky for the trees. If you have no interest in Bend or are running short on time, 126 will take you Prineville where you pickup 26 to John Day and on to Baker etc.

Hwy 12 from Lewiston through Lolo pass is amazing and there are lots of places to stay along the way. There are also lots of stopping places along 12, but not a lot of gas stations, so fill up every chance you get. I's about 215 miles from Lewiston to Lolo, so a full tank on a Touring bike should get you there.

Paul

if you have time GTSR is absolutely a good option… then 2/83/200 back to Missoula … or… 89/287/200… the second one is a nice ride…

Mudpuppy and old sport, August, maybe I’ll ride down or over and join you for a day or two. July I’m riding back east to visit in-laws. Wife no longer rides two up, sciatic nerve issues. She’ll fly and then wonder why the hell is it taking me sooooo long to get to PA. Just wait til she sees how long it takes me to get home. You’ll recognize me, I’ll have a full set of golf clubs on a bagger. I’ve got an in-law game! You know what that means.

Added: I can hear my wife now to her sisters, damn it, he’s up in the adirondacks coming from Idaho to Pennsylvania. He’s the only one I know who can turn a 3 day trip into a week or more! Only place she knows I won’t go…..Chitcago.

Nice... I'm heading up to ND from Tampa Bay - planning to pull a "Bun Burner 1500" into MN, then head across, picking-up RT-2 in ND and hoping to follow that most of the way west.

Planning to hit GTSR along the way, then cross the pan-handle into WA.

My wife gets on the bike when I hit Seattle.

Will share more as we get close.

In the past, on a few occasions, I had a guitar strapped to the bagger - I get it.

…when you get to Newport in Washington state get off of Highway 2 and jump on highway 20 and run it all the way to the coast… It’s a good road… With small towns and a beautiful mountain pass once you get past Winthrop…
