One thing about 44, from the Badlands to Rapid City it is best described like this: close your eyes, picture nothing, now take that away.

Which road are you planning on taking back through N MN? Hwy 2 is nice through Chippewa Forest and on to of course, Duluth. If you have an extra day to ride in MN, ride up the North Shore to Hwy 1 and take that to Ely, then come back down into Duluth. Great roads.

Another sorta cool place is Bear Butte National Park. Not far from Glencoe Camp ground. You can get VERY up close and personal with the buffalos. I did it and lived. Not the brightest thing in the world to do but I'm one not to turn down a dare.
