Great trip to York pa and Gettysburg
Well we started out 7am Thursday morning and headed out of mt vernon ohio down threw the rolling hills of coshocton county the dew and fog was thick but once we got out on to 77 and 70 heading towards Wheeling Wv it cleared up. We stopped at a small town called Bridgeport and put the helments on for the 10 min ride threw WV. We followed 70 to the 76 Pennsylvania turnpike and pounded ground all the way to York. Was a nice ride some neat views and tunnels. We arrived in York about 3:40pm thursday. Got checked into our motel 6 and walked over the hill to the Hop and San Carlos for bike night we stayed there to long and had to many lol.
Got up Friday morning and headed to the plant and did the tour it was a great time but unfortunetly we didn't see any bikes being built as they had ran off all the 08 thur night and were starting the change over to 09 but we saw the plant and heard the stories and how they did things. Left out of there and met up with some of the guys from the plant that my dad knows hit couple local hang outs then me and my buddy left the group of guys talking and bsing and took a trip out side of york on 74 to Freebyrd custom cycles shop some great people we met thursday at hops showed us all around and some nice bikes and great people Kim and Mike the owners and Nick one of there builders as well as the other folks we met. We left there and just missed the down poor of rain as we pulled back into the hotel.
Got up sat morning met up with my dads buddies and headed down into gettysburg. Hit the harley dealer and then on to the Battlefields WOW very overwellming place. More than you could ever see in a day. We rode all around and had a great time stopped at several monuments and Devils Den and just a great day.
Ended our visit to York at hops that night with some good friends and lots of drinks.
Got up late sunday for a late start from sat nights fun. We took off and planned to make our way back on US 30. What a beautiful ride. We came down off the mountian in McConnelsburg and pulled under a gastation by 76 turnpike just as a hail storm hammered the area. Once it was over we pulled back out and it was great riding until we stopped in Washington Pa that night. We were eating and the storm rolled in we got soaked on the way to the hotel.
Finished up the trip back to Ohio taking 70 to st rt 9 in st clarisville and up to 250 past tappen lake and up to dover.
All in all was a great time and about 1,000 miles alot of fun and good people. York is a very heavy traffic town if you ever go becarefull those people will run you over.[/align]
