I've used Road America a couple of times and they don't just leave you sitting there, they keep in contact to make sure your tow is coming. Made me feel better, and the price is right. I need to renew mine for another year.
Best $30 per year I ever spent. Used it twice now and had one overnight stay that was covered. Before I got the HOG Roadsode Assistance, I had AAA and tried to use it once. The tow company came unprepared to haul a bike, so I didn't let them try. Called AAA back and they said I could "take it or leave it", so I called another service myself and paid out of pocket... and cancelled AAA.
Very happy with HOG roadside assistance. Had to use it last year after a breakdown and it worked slick as heck. They even called me back after a certain amount of time (don't remember, maybe 45 minutes,) to make sure that the truck arrived and all was good.
Since I chose to go to a particular H-D dealer that was further away, I went over the max and was told that I would have to cover the difference...no problem, it wasn't much. Thing was though that the tow driver was so happy about towing my bike and talking bikes with me that he never even charged me the extra amount.
I understand. How easy is the stuff to install? I read their instructions, but I want a real world review. Does it take just a 3-5 mile ride like they say, to coat the inner-tube?
Very easy to install... let all the air out,,, squirt in the correct amout, fill the tire and ride away... Take it easy for a mile or so... I have never felt any problems after the install - I run cast wheels, not sure about the tubes...
I did put this in my 66 vett and it took about 5 miles to settle down... Now, on this ride, I felt it... but not on the HD>..
Blew a tire in the middle of no-where USA. Called HOG, got the # of the nearest H-D. Called them. Two hours later we were back on the road. Had bought the tire & wheel coverage for $290.00 with the warranty. The bill with towing was well over $300.00 and my cost was $0.00.
p.s. It was a roofing nail into the sidewall. Got a new tire and tube.
Have used mine once, still cost me about a $100 for a tow because the closest HD dealership was closed on Sunday and I did not want to stay in the middle of nowhere.
The problem is, they may find someone a hundred miles away that is in their list of towers. You might could find one closer if you have good phone service.
On a Wednesday at 2009 Laconia Rally returning from Mount Washington around 5:00 PM, flat on my Softail. Called HOG and within an hour picked up and delivered to Laconia HD in Meredith, NH. Dealer was about to close so they helped by putting me up at Local VIP hotel to enable tire replacement next morning. Very surprise to see a HOG rep on site and paid all expenses without me having to submit claim. Couldn't ask for better service in the middle on one of the largest Rallies in USA.
