3 days there, 2 or 3 days there, then 3 days back???

I was looking at the new road trip planner on HD's site, but it doesn't really help you
select the most scenic routes.

Thanks,
Joe
Take the Coastal Highway/Route 1 up from Portsmouth NH into Bar Harbor. Pretty, but could be jammed with traffic till about Portland, ME, if you are not in a hurry. If you are, take I-95 all the way to Bangor, then 1a over to BH. Check the ferry schedule, it doesn't run from BH every day http://www.catferry.com/ Get reservations NOW for BH. Whatever recession people talk about, the town is still busy! Don't forget your passport, you need it to cross into Canada. Doesn't sound like you have alot of time in Maine, but riding the park loop road in Acadia is nice. I'd suggest the ferry from Portland rather than BH. If all your goal is to get to Nova Scotia, that cuts at least a half day of riding out, and frankly, just riding up to BH/Acadia to get on the ferry, you will miss some nice riding roads.....

both the above may have been given to you already..

I did this same ride three years ago... back then only one ferry... The CAT - it ran from both Bar harbor and Portland??

Anyway.. great riding.. we did the entire coast and it was great... info above has covered most of that.. be sure to allow time at Peggy's harbor and if you want a really nice place to stay that is VERY different..

Each train car is a room... super cool... not cheap but COOL

Default Changed my mind not taking the CAT

I've decided to do more riding myself and not have the Ferry carry us over.
But, I assume at some point I will have to take a ferry either to PEI. I'm not sure
if I can stay on the roads for everything I want to see and do.

From RI up through ME, over to NS, tool around NS, head over to PEI, perhaps New Glasgow.
If there are bridges all the way, great. But if I do have to take a ferry to some of these
locals... What do you do about tying down your scoot? Do they do it for you? Bring your own tie downs? If so, I assume they must have places to tie the bike down to?

Thanks again,
Joe

You can take the Confederate Bridge from NS to P.E.I.

There are quite a few scenic areas up here in Nova Scotia. Most people know of the Cabot trail, but there are many others, some nice scenery along the Bay of Fundy, and through the Annapolis Valley. The south shore can be quite nice, especially at sunrise. If you are going to go via the Cabot Trail, definately take a ride on the Englishtown Ferry, a short little ferry ride in a valley between two mountain ranges. I fyou give me some more info, what interest you, how long you want to spend in the area, do you prefer major Highway or backroads, etc. I can probably give you some options, many of which you will probably never find in the "Tourist info".
If you end up in the Pictou area, there is a little store just off on the Sunrise Trail (hwy#6) stop in and say Hi..
