Default !st New England Trip

Planning on my first visit to the New England states this coming summer. Is it possible to see NYC from a distance? I'm not new to big city traffic but I would like to avoid it if possible. Is there any daylight hours that are less congested than others? Thanks for any help.

You can see the skyline from anywhere close. Daytime is always busy. Friday afternoon everybody is getting out of the city and Sunday, everyone is coming back. Take the bypasses and it won't be as bad.

We too thought it would be cool to see the skyline from the highway as we made our way up to Maine last year...a mistake I'll never make again. "Congestion" doesn't even begin to cover it. We waited 45 minutes in scorching heat at the last toll booth, only to pay a measely buck-twenty-five to get outta that hell hole. Everyone's different...and, ya'll may actually enjoy that kinda thing...but, my take is the skyline ain't worth getting within a hundred miles of NYC!

Where are you coming from, so we can give you directions how to avoid NYC?
For people not extremely familiar with the area, even passing close to the city in a car can be a nightmare.
Compared to NYC, even LA is a walk in the park.

Check out the Adirondack State Park. Awesome ride an views. Over 6 million acres. Lake Placid is a great destination and July 4th they have a Bar-B-Cue competition and other activities. Weather is great then.

If you want to see New York I would suggest leaving the scooter at home and fly in there on a weekend package that includes air, hotels and transfers. I was out there over 20 years ago and was not overly impressed. Lots of arrogant people walking teh streets. Looking west from the city on the horizon was one giant landfill with big crawlers running all over it crushing the trash down. Don't know if that has changed but it was not a very fond memory. Downtown was cool with a guide.

Weekend travel/hotel package is a very good idea. I wouldn`t say there are a lot of arrogant people in NYC, they people there are pretty much the same as people anywhere, there`s just a lot more people packed into one area.

New York city is a great place to visit, I live 100 miles away, and enjoy every trip I take into the city.

No landfills in Manhattan that Ive ever known of, looking west from the city you will be looking at the Hudson River and New Jersey is on the other side.

Early October is a great time to see the city, less tourists, and it is not so hot.
