considering a ride through Tennesse. 1st of August. Any ideas? Also what kind of temps can one expect at that time of year. Will be coming through Memphis heading east.

 

Memphis in August? HOT! Further east, one stop I'd recommend is Lynchburg for the Jack Daniels Distillery tour.

 

Head East and just stay South of I-40..Could be cold up in the mountains that time of the year..

Bristol area is good. Hwy 421 to Mtn City is great. Check out Shady Valley on the way. Head over to Boone and hit the parkway and ride it back to Cherokee NC Take a jacket.

 

If your East of Nashville and the road signs don't say Interstate you ought to be good. But the Cherahola Parkway is a great ride along the ridge top of the Smokey's. It starts at Tellico Plains, TN and there's a great campground there owned by Bikers (Cherahola Motorcycle Resort). You can take the Parkway across to Robbins, NC and then up to Deals Gap and the Tail of the Dragon.

Last Sat. it was 80 in Tellico Plains and 55 up on the Cherahola Skyway. We were in the clouds looking down to see the bottom of them. Great trip.
