Buddy and I need to deliver a bike to a friend in Carlsbad so we have decided to turn it into a Ride! We will trailer the bikes to Carlsbad and take several days around the area... Might even run down to El Paso and check out the Harley dealership. We leave Wednesday Nov,9 and will return home on Sunday.
Anyway - I have a feeling it might get cold in the higher elevations so I installed Heat Deamons heated grips
Anyone from the area provide any thoughts? Any advice for a winter run like this?
It can do anything in November around here. It could be beautiful, or it could snow. Just keep an eye on the weather reports. I still ride to work every day, and right now it's in the mid 40's in the morning, and mid/high 60's in the afternoon. Yesterday it was 36 when I left the house in the morning, and it only warmed up to 55 in the afternoon, but it's going to get warmer again for the next few days. Two or three weeks from now, it could be similar, or change a lot. Sorry to be so ambiguous, but that's how it is this time of year around here.
We are having a great ride. Sitting in a cabin tonight in Cloudcroft with good friends. We want to run down to Alamagordo in the morning - is 83 the best route or do we have a bike friendly route as an alternative?
I have tried to research myself, but you can obly do so much on a smart phone!
82 is the fastest option. Its only 18 miles if i remember correctly. You can always take Indian route 10 from cloudcroft to mescalero then take hwy 70 into alamogordo. It will add quite some time though. Either way is pretty scenic. Have you been to ruidoso? The inn of the mountain gods is a cool place.
