O.K. so I searched & researched other threads on camping at/during Sturgis rally week. I've never been there so this will be my first & most likely just me-all alone because I can't seem to get my fellow biker friends to go along. Actually I'll be doing a 3 week ride out to Glacier N.P.,Yellowstone,Teton N.P. Beartooth hwy. then on my way back home stopping at Sturgis for a few days at the rally. So here is my plan for camping at the big event:
Sunday,Aug.4th. camp at the Buffalo Chip...get there early & spend the day meeting others & that night see ZZ Top.
Monday,Aug. 5th. pull up stakes & head to Days End campground in Sturgis to get close to the action. In other words being able to have a few beers without having to worry about driving a bike-drunk. Probably stay here for 2 days then head out.
Going it alone does'nt bother me...I"m just trying to see what others think of this plan. Thanks for any input.....good or bad.
Buffalo Chip has a lot of action as well. Sounds generally like a great plan. You will definitely be seeing some great parts of the country. Planning on riding around Sturgis? Spearfish canyon, Shell canyon, etc??? You will have a great time and make new friends!
Well the hell with your "old" friends....When you get to Sturgis you will have hundreds of "new" friends....
You know i have always done things on my own...If guys wanted to join in the fun then thats great but if not well their loss...
Besides no matter were i go...I can always spend some quality time with my old friends,Jack and Johnny...Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker :-)

Thanks riteway......could not have said it better myself..... and to you....one BIG SALUTE for your service.
Too funny as that's looking like the same plan I'm coming up with too. Saw the Chip had ZZ Top and the ticket includes 1 night. We are coming from Washington and will pick up the wives at Rapid City after a couple of days in Sturgis (perfect - right). Then we will be heading back to Washington together. Not sure of the path back but it's sure to include points west off the interstate. Figure I need to make reservations by next week for Sturgis. So maybe we can hookup in Sturgis since it looks like we may be staying at the same places.
