Headed up to Eureka Springs for some fall foliage and decided to take a little detour over the Talimena Skyway and then up Hwy 123. First time over the TS and Hwy 123. Gonna ride from Central TX to Mena first day and then head up 7/123 to Eureka Springs for 1.5 days and then back home. Any pointers for TS or Hwy 123? Here's my route, I've noticed not too many gas stations from Mena and north??
There's ample amount of gas stations north of Mena, I see your riding an Ultra, so you will be fine. You've picked a good route. Hwy 7 is one of the nicest roads in arkansas. We just came from up that way on Sunday, wasn't much foliage just yet, still good riding though. On your way home, head south out of Eureka on Hwy 23 and you will catch the pig's trail. Thats also a nice ride. But if your looking to make some time and don't wanna add miles to your trip, cut across to Rogers on Hwy 12, also a neat little hwy.
saw you were taking 250 south of Waldron off of US71 toward 80. was down 250 last week and they were doing some work on it...Oil and Gravel.....would suggest that you turn on 28 just north of Boles off of 71 then pickup 27 at Rover. Just another thought...instead of taking 27 to Dardanelle then over to 7, when you get to Danville, take 10 West over to 309 which goes up to Mt Magazine..Tallest point in Arkansas..309 goes to Paris then take 22 east out of Paris to 109. north on 109 to Clarksville; hit 64 thru clarksville to 21 and north on 21 to 16 then east on 16 to 7 and north to Harrison or you can go back south on 7 and pickup 123 to go north....

okay, updated map with inputs..thanks...I may be riding with someone who only has a four gallon tank, so about 125 miles and it's sucking fumes. That's why I was asking about fuel stops in area! thanks for inputs
Keep seeing this thread and one other about the Talimena Skyway. We have reservations at the Hootie Creek Bed and Breakfast in late October and I am keeping time with a sundial.
Do not and I repeat DO NOT miss doing the Pig Trail on Hwy 123, you won't regret it. While visiting Mt Magazine stop in at the lodge for an awesome lunch, great prices too. Wife and I just got back from BBandBBQ and rode some of the best roads in Ark. Eureka Springs is my second favorite place besides the Smokey Mountains. Pulled pork at the Rockin Pig is pretty good after a hard days ride. FT
