I'm in the planning stages of my riding vacation this summer. My initial plans are for a ride around Lake Superior. What I'm looking for is advise on where to spend the nights on the Canadian side of the lake. On the U.S. side it shouldn't be a problem figuring it out, but I'm willing to take advise there also. My wife won't camp, so that's out of the question. Any recommendations on hotels/motels, B&Bs, places to avoid, great meals, great scenery, etc? TIA
I can't give you anything specific for that area, but when I travel I always look for a Best Western first and HOG has an affiliation with them for discounts and such.

I did that trip a few years ago. You will find that most of the motels are mom and pop operations except for in Thunder Bay or Sault Ste. Marie. Wawa is a good spot to stop. Be sure and stop at Ouimet Canyon just north of Thunder Bay. Also look for waterfalls, some are not marked, take your time as it is a beautiful ride. Know that the weather can change in a hurry off of Lake Superior.
That road is subject to very strong and sometimes sudden storms ( think Edmund Fitzgerald).
Very strong winds ( "oh, that's why the trees grow sideways")
Driving rain.
If you do take that road add in a day in case you have to shelter up in a motel.
Having driven across Canada about 50 times, I have avoided that road whenever I could, taking the inland route (which is not scenic)
the scenery is spectacular though and the views to the SW can give advance warning of weather systems.
I have only travelled a small part of the Michigan side of Lake Superior, before crossing into Canada at Soo. What surprised us, while taking in the locks there, is the museum to shipwrecks. The weather can be bad enough to sink and wreck ocean-going ships, despite it being warm and sunny for our visit.

We abide by this with the Best Western, and having traveled 3 of the 4 corners of the continental US, we have had great accommodations, no matter which are. We live near the great lakes in Wisconsin and I can tell you we have some of the most scenic riding locally you can find. Different than every where else, but worth the ride to see. There is a ship called the Badger that shuttles you across lake Michigan about 1/2 way down it should you choose not to do the full loop around down through Chi town.
Enjoy, be safe, and take a good camera..............

We do a lot of traveling with the bike... last year we road from CT to Gettysburg, West Virginia, Tennessee, the tail of the dragon then onto the Blue Ridge pkwy, Skyline and more. Spectacular ride!!
We always book Best Westerns for the discount, clean rooms and kind service. They treat bikers very well.
We use mad maps to plan out the trips... always a good time with the wind in the face...unless the wind is rain.
One bit of advice... pack light, do wash at the hotel if needed... we would stop at HD dealerships and buy a shirt here and there

Reason: forgot some stuff
did the 'lake superior circle tour' (google this if you haven't) about 10 years ago, it was an awsome trip, plenty of scenery, small town atmosphere and chilly for the first week of july! we spent one night in marathon, ontario, look up pebble beach there, really neat at sunset. we planned on 250 miles a day or so, didn't want to feel rushed when stopping for scenic overlooks and such. don't miss the 'harbor haus' restaurant in copper harbor, michigan. we blew through minnesota's north shore (we live 2 hours from there, so been there, done that over the years....same with the south shore of the lake in wisconsin, lots to see and do, but we have done it over the last 25 years. the only thing i didn't like about the trip is 2 weeks after we got home, my rkc got ripped off....
