Default Spring Myrtle Beach Rally

Any one here have any opinions or tips for Myrtle Beach Spring Rally. This winter is working on me and I have to have something to look forward to. Have not been to Myrtle in 20 years but use to know the area very well. Never been there for a bike event either. Thought I would plan about 4 days there and get to know the area again.

I just check on rooms there, plenty available. I was also looking on you tube for videos of the main drag, looks like a great time. Boob's, beer, bike's. Im sure thinking about it also.

The layout hasn't changed a lot in the last 20 yrs. The rally is nothing like it used to be. If I go at all this year it will be a day trip. The town has all but choked the event down to nothing more than a fraction of its former glory days. Too many cops harassing for everything from loud pipes to ape hangers. At one time a stock exhaust system on a Harley couldn't pass the sound ordinance they had in place. I don't know the current laws there but I would be sure to look into it if I planned on going. If you do go I would suggest staying towards the southern part of MB or Murals Inlet. That's where all the fun is anyway. Good luck

Edit: the town is so greedy they put a helmet law in effect inside the city limits without prior notification or proper signage. They issued a record number of citations. After quite a few law suits they had to reimburse everyone ticketed.

I've been to both spring and fall rally's at Myrtle and had a really good time at each. I never had a problem with the local law enforcement and the only people that I saw that did actually deserved it. I have loud pipes (ProPipe), my buddy has Big Shots and we had no problems whatsoever. I actually saw more cages being pulled over than I did bikes. But, I agree with Scott01, if you can get into a place on the south end of Myrtle or Murrells Inlet you'll pretty much be right in the middle of the action.

My first time was last year, I enjoyed it. Just enough crowd to enjoy, but not so bad that you just set in traffic the whole day. No problems with the cops, we stayed in South Myrtle.

Heard nothing but horror stories. Cops standing around with sheilds and tear gas like a riot was getting ready to happen, friend had a sporty stolen at 8:00 am breakfast, chained to a bunch of bigger bikes, just cut the chain, loaded it and away it was never to be seen again. Weather can be nice in spring, but can be colder than a witches titty. As many rallies as I've been too, I can skip it. BTW, most SC highway patrolman are crooks. Got a ticket, send the money to Trooper so-n-so and this won't go on your insurance. I paid the extortion and it is NOT on my driving record whatsoever. As a southerner, I can truly say that SC is the ******* of the south, crooks from doctors, lawyers, lawmakers, realtors, postal workers right down to the wrecker driver.

Helmet law is gone, They had to get rid of it. If you haven't been most of the bike action is around Murrells inlet or North Myrtle, or around Broadway on the beach.

The helmet fiasco didn't last and is gone. Some smaller areas are more crowded than others, but you can still get around. Act like you have some sense and the cops won't bother you. It's pretty laid back. Haven't seen or heard of any riot shields and tear gas before. Again, it's pretty laid back, unless you're looking for trouble. And if you do get a ticket and the trooper has you mail the money to another trooper, the Colonel of the troopers would like to hear about it.
