Yes they are like firearms and saws. Before I lost three fingers in a bungee cord accident, I took a 12 hour class so I could carry my bungee cords in a concealed fashion. I.M.O. there should be a three day cooling off period when you purchase a bungee cord, unless of course it is an undocumented transaction between yourself and a private seller, or you buy it at an expo center during a trade show (also known as the tradeshow loophole). I guess I see your point, though. I'm sure if you were a podiatrist a boot thread would be highly important also.

I am pretty sure my last patient with a bungee cord injury would have rather lost 3 fingers. He is 20/70 BVA, with Glaucoma now, in the injured eye.
Was a good athlete, still playing basketball in his 50s, now can't make a shot.
My point about firearms and saws, is is that is a product that deserves 100% of your focus. Shouldn't be distracted when using.
