Default Baffle question

I have a 2010 Roadking...I have a K&N 3930 air box and a Doebeck Gen3 contoller and I have a set of your slip on mufflers with the 2 1/2" baffles...My question is I'm planning to remove the Cat from the head pipe and was wanting to know which size baffles I should go with or if the 2 1/2" will work okay...I have been told that the smaller baffles would give some back pressure...I want to stay as loud as possible...If you recommend a different size baffle could you send me the part number and a dealer I could buy from...The mufflers I have are #15302...Thanks"

We recommend the 2.25" baffle as the largest to be used with open headpipes. The 2.00" will give you the best overall performance and will have a similar volume to your current setup.

The part numbers are:
152215DB for the 2.25"
152012DB for the 2.00"

Before you order, check the bottom of your slip on muffler. If you do not have two bolts securing the baffle, just one bolt near the outlet, the part numbers will be 152215 or 152012.

There are sponsors on the forum that sell Rush products. You can also purchase them from the many online retailers, most indy shops, and almost every H-D dealership. If you prefer to buy locally, just PM me your zipcode and I can list dealers in your area.

Thanks for choosing Rush!

A baffle question from me as well. I have a 2010 FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide and I got the slip on mufflers with 2'' baffles. I recently bought the 1.5'' baffles because I want to reduce noise a bit and I am ready to install them on the bike.
Question: Do I need any remap-retuning or just install the slip on mufflers with 1,5'' baffles and go? I have no other modifications, everything else is stock on the bike. I don't care that much for perfomance and gain Hps (which I've noticed and I like it ofcourse). Just want to be sure that everything will be OK with the engine.
Thanks for any assistance

The 2010 wide glide has a catalytic converter in the head pipe. Due to the increased heat from the cat, 2.00" is the smallest baffle size we recommend. Smaller baffles can be used but will be very restrictive and can lead to discoloring of the chrome. I would use the 1.75" as the smallest but please be aware this could lead to discoloring. No tuning will be required with any baffle size due to the catalytic converter in the headpipes.
Thanks for choosing Rush,
Ryan

Thank you for the quick reply

I'll put the 1,5'' baffles because I want to dicrease noise a bit. I think though that you should mention all that you replied to me in your site, because I've checked and the only warning is that "Blueing and/or discoloration is not covered under warranty, it is a result of improper tuning, cam timing, engine timing" (I have the Rush Slip on mufflers Part No 28605 which are compartible with '10 - '12 Wide Glide & '08 - '12 Fat Bob). Anyway, I have no problem with blueing -if that will occur-, since i am very happy with the amazing sound. It is a "harley sound" indeed

approx how long will take -judging from your experience- this blueing to appear on the mufflers? Chroming the mufflers again is it possible?

Once again thank you for your help

Due to all of the variables with tuning and baffle selection we rely on our dealer network to provide guidance on selecting products for the proper application. If purchasing online you can contact us directly for product recommendations if the point of purchase does not offer any.

With so many options and modifications available for bikes it is very difficult to put such information on the website. I will see what can be done to add some basic guidelines for completely stock bikes or possibly a basic baffle size guide. We currently have a website link to contact us that can be used for technical information or product recommendations and those are usually replied to the same day during normal business hours. We also have sales staff and technicians to answer questions and provide information over the phone.

I can’t say how long they will take to discolor or if it will happen at all. The reason is the cat super heats the exhaust and when used with a smaller baffle the chance of discoloring increases due to the restriction. Many variables such as elevation and even drastic riding styles can also effect this. It’s not guaranteed to happen but the chances increase.
