Ordered a 2016 CVO SG, need advice on a few things
I’ll be adding a black 4-point docking unit for a King Tour Pack, backrest and a comfier seat.
So, I’m looking for other rider’s experience and advice on which items to add?
Passenger floor boards
– I like the shape, but am not happy with the black HD units engraved with FLHX. Was thinking I may need to go with the smooth chrome and have them black powder coated, unless others have found a better option. I’ll re-use the stock passenger pegs on the Highway peg mounts!
Seat – We rode an Ultra for 4 days last summer. My wife found that stock seat very comfortable, but is there room for improvement since I’ll be adding a new secondary seat anyway? A happy wife, is a longer ride!
King Tour Pack
– Does the King Tour Pack come with the back rest, liner, etc? Or does all that need to be ordered separately?
- Anyone added the self locking latches to the Tour Pack to connect with the Saddle Bag locks?
- What other pieces are required for tour pack addition?
- Are the dimensions to mount the King Tour Pack available? Or is it straight forward to line it up? Centering should be easy, but how far behind the passenger seat?
Has anyone added the CB radio option for Bike-to-bike communications? (I ride with my Brother-In-law who has an Ultra Limited with the option)
The only other thing I may add would be the black exhaust heat shields.
So I’m looking for other CVO owners experience and advice. I have some time before I need to order the Colour matched King Tour Pack and docking pieces.

Tour-Pack, all items are ordered separately, Tour-Pack, back rest, lights, lock, inserts and all. Self Locking saddle bag latches do not come on CVO Street Glide!!!!
The Four point dock will position your tour-pack with a minimal amount of fore and aft adjustment, simply loosen the bolts and move either direction.
The CB, not to familiar with the install
The heat shields can be powder coated.
The CVO seat is ok but I’m looking at the Corbin. Like GlidingJoe said most people say it’s the best mod they have made.
No CB here.
I'm looking at the Corbin seat, but it is hard to find one here in Southern Ontario, Canada to try. At least the local dealers all have the HD test seats that you can demo.
Elb62, I'm looking forward to your King Tour Pack install photos. Would you have a list of part numbers that your ordered handy?
I thought of Powder coating the heat shields as well. I may go that route as I really don't want the leftover chrome pieces hanging around the shop. I'm trying to reduce clutter and stuff, not add more. So thanks for reinforcing that idea.
How do you find the sound of the stock CVO SG Screaming-Eagle exhaust? Does it have enough rumble and a nice tone? I have experienced it at the dealer with another CVO idling, and gave it a bit of a rev. But the weather was to crappy to go for a spin and put it under a load. They had another with the RSD Carbon Fiber Tipped exhaust. Seemed just a bit too loud. Didn't want to make my passenger too uncomfortable at the end of a ride. But I read that it quietens down as the revs come up?!?
I really appreciate all of your input. And Glidingjoe pointed out that the auto-locking saddle bags were not on the CVO SG. Thats not what my sales rep said. So now I know.

If you want lights you will need the wiring harnes, not sure on that part #.
The exhaust is OK and not to load. Most are changing the baffles in the stock pipe to 2" and changing the head pipe with a FullSac or FuelMoto.
