Just bought a new(<3k mi's) '08. Gotta get rid of those stock bars! Feels like a crotch rocket. I need some mini apes(?) I suppose. Ideally, I think that I only need about 4 or 5 inches up and maybe 6 or so back. Any suggestions? Don't really find what I'm seeking on the web. Think I'll need to get extensions? Thanks!
I hear ya(mate? I'll guess you're no yankee) My other springer (for sale now) is set up with mini apes. On it, I sit mostly straight up. Very bad back and shoulder. That bending isn't too much fun. Buuuut! I guess I will definitely need to keep your advise in mind when I try to accommodate this old body. Thanks Much.
My FXSTSSE2 CVO Springer was bought out of central Texas in 2011 , 6,300 miles.
I have now done 20,000 K's ( Km/H speedo installed on import , Aussie requirement !)
Black Diamond , V&H Big Shot Staggered , SERT/TTS tuned , runs real good now !
I hear you about the "sit up" position , I had to get used to these flatter bars after my 2008 Softail Custom with the mini apes. Now I love them of course.
Any initial thoughts of changing the stock bars were very quickly tempered by the cost !
Another reason I like this bike so much is there are maybe only a dozen others in Western Australia , and it's the size of 1/3 of the continental USA !
A mate of mine here liked my bike so much he bought one out of North Carolina , in 2008 Anniversary Copper and Black , when we go out on them together to bike events they cause quite a stir when parked together.
