When I installed my new apes I don't think I could have gotten away with the throttle cables on bars much taller than stock and theres no way thatI could see that you could use the stock front brake line on anything taller than stock. Obviously I have different bars but I just don't see how you could go much taller than stock with any of the stock parts. The clutch you might get away with though.Might need to lengthen the wiring as well.
found some info that says you don't need to swap out the cabes. is this true? any help would be apreciated...........
Probably, but 9.5 is not what I would classify as "apes". Wild1 makes good stuff though. My drags are Chubbys.
True, not "real" Apes but I was looking to maintain some of the control a shorter bar gives whhile adding a bit more comfort. BTW 97, nice azz ride! Who makes that T/S relocation bracket? Looks good...
Thanks Pirate. I understand about the control w/shorter bar thing. I plasma-cut my brackets out of 1/8th-inch cold rolled and bolted them to the existing holes. Painted them with POR-15. Pics in the gallery. I just couldn't see paying $$ for something that simple.
