It would seem the design of the crank has reached it's limit, or should I say the way it's designed as far as fits, and metal choices. Done right, it should laugh at the light duty it has to do. Ron
talked to dealer today and he said that the push rod tubes were full of oil which is not normal along with the porosity issue he said the cylinders is were the issues are. I sure hope its notmotor, tranny etc.cases
Well it is nice to know that I am not the only one that has had problems with their bike. Mine has been in the shop 4 times going on 5. The first time was for a leak in the rear cylinder. second time was for oil spraying out of the oil cooler and no oil pressure, third time was for no oil pressure, Fourth time was for excessive nocking andrunning on the frontcylinder only. Now I am taking it back in for the original problem of leaking out of the rear cylinder again. Does anyone think that I might have a bad engine? Could it be a Pinion problem? I would think that it is time for a new motor. Any opinions???
Before installing a new o ring on the base for cylinder , find out what the fit is suppose to be. Sounds like the o ring is barely being compressed and in time may shrink from the heat and start leaking. First leak you can maybe blame on the assembly. The second time, you gotta start looking for the real cause. These factory o rings are probably cheap sschit anyway. The best you can use in there is( Viton ) grade. Just match the dimensions and you will never have one fail again, if the pocket machining is correct. Ron
Just to let everyone know,If we get enough people to turn in a complaint on the 110 motors we might be able to get Harley-Davidson to do a recall on the motors. It sound like there are a lot of people that are having the same problems with the motors. Please go to recalls.gov and file a complaint. They will review the problem and if we can get out voice heard, Harley will have to fix the problem.
Thanks for your support in the matter. I hope that you will take action and let our message be heard.
O.k. in the new issue of iron works mag.(AUG.2007) they have a write up thew 110ci motor and how it a full factory warranty motor but if read threw the article it says how when they put fixture on the milling machine it moves when you are machining it in retrospect the o-ring is out of tollerance causing the o-ring groove to be either to deep or to wide. The whole thing is f#*ked and what really sucks is that these are some of the best days to ride that i have seen for a long time.
