Just bought a 2016 roadglide cvo ultra.I waiting for the service manual to come in.anyway,I want to get the syn3 out of there. Going to put formula + and I know it takes 34 oz.my question is " when filling primary, does bike have to be level or on jiffy stand?
Should be drained warm on the side stand. If your installing 34oz's it doesn't make a difference how the bike sets. It's still 34oz's
It actually does make a difference. On the kickstand, you can't get 34 ounces in the primary(narrow primary) Upright/level,you can.ask me how I know.lol. thanks for the info guys.

But if it takes 34 ounces, what does it matter, if on stand or not? Where you goign to balance it and fill it?

????? Since you can take the derby off with oil in the primay, I have no idea what you are talking about. Pre 2007, less fuid, but you could take both covers off with oil too.
Maybe you need to drain, and re measure. A quart bottle is 32 ounces.

I measured the fluid that came out. And with the bike on the kickstand, there's no way to add 34 ounces.with the bike level,no prolbem.ya,you can take the derby off with fluid in it,but it better be level.lol,I do know how many ounces are in a qt.

On my lift.on the kickstand, only about 27 ounces will go in.on the lift and level, you get the 34 ounces in and to the proper level.

My bikes are old frame, but one has the 6 speed, which holds 34 ounces. Maybe something has changed. But I tend to think you guys are nuts. But I haven't work on new frames.
If what you are saying is true, it bothers me worse about Harley.

I've never tried to fill mine on the jiffy stand but I don't imagine it would work. The other day I removed the plug on the jiffy stand, waited a few seconds and then started removing the derby cover while it was draining. Even then I had a little oil run down the side of my motor.

Lots of opinions here but the service manual you are waiting for will tell you it needs to be level.
