Default Klock Werks 5" Flare

I picked up a dark smoke Klock Werks 5" Flare windshield for my '17 CVO Street Glide. I liked the factory Wind Splitter, but I just needed something a bit taller than the 7" version that was on it. I measured the Wind Splitter in the manner Klock Werks measures theirs and got 4.5". Their 5" version is supposed to measure 5.5". I took a few photos for comparison.

The Klock Werks is indeed about an inch taller.

It's also a bit more upright and has a bit more flip at the top.

It doesn't have the tapered appearance the Wind Splitter does, and has a profile that looks more like a factory non-CVO windshield on the Limited.

It's winter here, so I don't have a ride report. The wind was hitting me just at the top of my glasses, so I'm hoping this is just enough extra to get it over the top of my helmet.

A couple other things I noticed: The Klock Werks is thinner than the Wind Splitter and has a bit more flex to it. The Klock Werks dark smoke is lighter and more gray than the transparent black of the Wind Splitter. Both have about the same amount of distortion when you look through them at the curved area.

I installed that same 5" KW shield on my CVO. It has a slight improvement over the stock Wind Splitter in my opinion. Enough so I kept it on. Turbulence over the top of my head was raised approx 1-2 inches, and a tad less wind noise at my ears. I do like the flat top looks of the stock shield better over the rounded KW, as well as the tint. Agreed, the stock shield is nice and thick. Its also thicker and a different tint than the Wind Splitters you buy from the dealerships off the shelf.

I also have the 7" KW I tried for a bit, but it proved to tall for me. The curve was just at eye level as recommended. Any slouching, as day goes on, and it was right in my view. So then I was always having to stretch to see over, very tiring after awhile. I was constantly running over things because my view of the road was way to far ahead to see. It was really good for wind blockage though, but Id rather see better. In the box it sits.

That's good to hear about the wind going up a couple of inches...should do exactly what I want. I'm hoping I end up the same as you, that the improvement is enough to justify keeping it. I'm not getting rid of my Wind Splitter in case it's not enough.
