Radio replacement 2005 Electra CVO
I have a couple of questions:
1. Is it true that the radio in a HD bike is not only a radio but also the brain of the engine management, and if I take it our the bike won t work any more?
2. My cd/radio (see picture) doesn t work well any more (cd is dead), so I want to replace it but at HD here in Spain they say the same one is no more available. What can I do?
Any suggestion? I remember that before the last wide screen models, electras have been fitted with a radio which was newer than mine...
Thanks in advance
ciao

2) Many folks are replacing the OEM stereo with this...

No one listens to CDs any more, instead put every song you own on a single USB thumb drive and plug that into the radio.
Is anyone around who replaced the radio on a CVO?
Thank you for contacting us. Upon looking into this for you we realized that we have an error on our web. We are correcting it. Neither of these will work with your make, model and year. We do not offer a radio that will work for your CVO.
Thank You!

There are some detailed threads on this CVO forum by folks that have done this.
The radio in my 05 is still working properly but I have the later model Harman Kardon ready to go in..
I've had not bad luck with Aquatic AV. Not an 05, but an 09 FLHX. Anyhow they just did some warranty work on it, but I have to stick it back in the fairing. The Aquatic is waterproof [the name might imply something to that degree...] but the other aftermarket stuff usually isn't.
Depending on what you run for a phone, you can connect it Bluetooth or directly with an iPhone cable or an AUX cable as well. It has a USB port, but I'd think you'd need a cable to loop a USB in behind the facepalte. The faceplate has a bit of a cavity behind it to stuff a phone in as well.
Trying to find an old HD unit seems problematic. Good luck though.
