I initially installed 2.5 fullsac baffles on my 2018 CVO Street Glide and they were fine. But i wanted something a bit deeper and punchy. So I bought a set of Magnaflow Knockouts after another board member "Quik" really liked his..
All I can say is WOW. These things absolutely kick ***. an extremely deep sound with punch. They are appropriately named set of pipes. You can literally feel the thumping when you stand behind the bike.... But not too loud in the driver's seat!
If you are looking for a deep punchy sound, these are the pipes you need. Oh and the torque seems to be improved with these pipes.
Installing fullsac baffles is a bit involved. There are a few decent videos that show how to do it. You basically grind a few weld spots on the inside of the pipes and then remove to stock baffles. Replace with fullsac baffles. You reuse the stock cans and heat shields. I did this first and the result was really good with the fullsac 2.5 baffles.
but then I bought a pair of these magnaflow knockout slipon mufflers. Those are a real easy install.
I love the thumping sound from these magnaflow knockouts. Amazing sound and increased torque. I rode tonight in 37 degree weather just so I could hear them thump some more!
On the Magnaflow, were you able to put the black gloss shields back on and fit and finish still excellent? Thats my biggest problem right now, I seriously like the gloss finish on these exhaust, but everyone is done chrome or flat black, I don't want to have to spend more money getting the new exhaust powder coated.
Yes existing shields fit. However the left side shield fits real tight towards the front. Both sides "want" to be moved forwards a bit. I have mine installed so that there is about a 1" gap between the end cap and the shield. It doesn't look bad at all because a) it is under the saddlebag and b) I bought the black pipes with black end caps.
I think another guy in here was able to get the mounted perfectly by very slightly bending the left front shield.
I am totally satisfied with the way mine look. I will try to take pic tomorrow and post it on here
Okay, the I apologize for low quality pictures. It was dark outside and the lighting in my garage is terrible. Anyway, you can get an idea from these pics.
In the side view, you can see how there is a slight gap between the shields and the end caps as I have them installed. I probably could have closed this gap, but I really like the pipes sticking out a bit in the back. If you look closely, you will see the Magnaflow logo sticking out from the shield about 1/8". Quik, another forum user, may be able to show you how his look from the side.
Rear View: With the black pipes, it is actually an improved look over stock where you could clearly see chrome cans from the rear of the bike.
These Magnaflow Knockouts sound absolutely outstanding. and the cans are rock solid. Very high quality and workmanship. The old stock cans feel junky compared to these.
