An excellent source of both information and parts is GMR Performance in Phoenix Arizona. Depends on where you live...there are other great builders out there as well. Head work is HUGE on the 103, but if you want to retain the SE 103 badges on the heads, it'll cost you some money to have the heads welded up and reconfigured. Making a 106 out of the bike with the heads reworked, gear drive cams, and larger TB, you should see numbers in the 120 range easily. It's all about the combination of parts, velocity in the combustion chamber, etc.

You might want to check the CVO owners forum, I've been a member for a few years, and can tell you from the 100 or so guys I know with CVO 103's the most popular combo's are Zippers kit with the 575 cam made just for the CVO 103 , and Freedom cams/pipes. Steve at GMR is an outstanding resource he helped me with my CVO build and I was VERY happy.

Hi Nidan,

I have a 2007 FLHX as well. 103" Stage II. D&D 2-1 Exhaust. SE air intake. What other mods have you done to yours? I am very curious. Thanks for you help.

Wishbone, I've got an '06 CVO Fatboy. The changes I made were a port job by TMan Performance, SE domed pistons (10.5 - 1), TMan 625 cams, stiffer springs, adjustable rods, roller rockers, SERT and a D&D Fatcat exhaust. I went thru numerous exhuast choices (stock with slipons, RH drags andRB racing)...the Fatcat was the best system by far. Runs strong and has a torque curve that's pretty darn flat.Tons of other options out there, this is just my 2 cents.

Oh yeah, one other thing. Regardless of whatupgrades you end up doing. Think about upgrading the clutch. The CVO clutch can handle up to about 114 ft lbs of torque, but that is testing its outer limit. I put in the AIM variable pressure setup in and it is a HUGE improvement over stock.

Wishbone, I still have the stock (CVO stock that is) heads on my bike. The CVO heads are almost identical to the SE 103 Pro heads out the SE catalog. They have hemispherical combustion chambers. Mine were ported, (cleaned up, bigger valves, new guidesetc.)decked .040, tapped for compression releases. Put back together with the high tensile studs, cometic gasket to get the quench (aka squish) right and an HPI throttle body with bigger injectors. The key before porting is to get with your guy and discuss how you want the bike to perform. A high rpm drag motor is going to have different head treatment than a more streetable motor and will also impact greatly what kind of cams you use. The porter (if he's a good one) will also want to know what kind of exhaust you plan to use and should be able to give you some input as well. I am completley satisfied with the work that TMan performance did on my bike, but who you have do the work isup to you. Lastly, find a good tuner. It doesn't matter how good the engine build is, if you can't get the thing tuned. I've seennumerous bikes develop and extra5 -10 hp/tq just with the work the tuner does with zero component changes on the bike.
