Ignition switch/Security System question
Just like the dealer will do, unless they plan to use a sawzall...
For those who plan on removing the ignition lock, make sure the lock mechanism is aligned before reinstalling the ****.
A 10 dollar tool and a service manual will save you a lot of aggravation.

I'm sure (at least hoping) the pros will know a way to resolve the problem and hopefully it will be at the dealership tomorrow......IF the tow truck comes as promised

Alignment tool
Have you removed an ignition **** that was stuck on one of these bikes?
Or is it a job that is simply impossible, according to you?
Instead of arguing with me, why don`t you tell us how to do it, since you obviously are the expert?
Remove the side screws on the dash panel, pull the panel out as much as possible, remove the screws holding the ignition switch, and then you can pull the whole mess off the bike and go to the bench.

I'd been thinking about selling it for a couple of years (due to knee issues) and a friend who has been after it from DAY ONE became it's new owner.
A bittersweet moment for me for sure but at least I'll get to see it frequently and he's one very happy biker!
I'll still have my '98 Heritage Springer (Anniversary bike) to play with occasionally and of course my '18 Tri-Glide "road machine".
Combined with out two other "summer cars" we have more toys to play with than we do time.
My problems started with gunk in the switch (it was a CVO bike and I never used he actual key--only remote locking) and then when I had it apart to clean and lubricate I couldn't get the little pin to release in the proper position and that's when and where I screwed up!
Another factor was the chrome trim plate that surrounds the ignition (and buttons) that seemed to be a problem even with the service manager tried to get the pin to release.
We removed that plate and all is well.
BTW, the new owner just picked it on Saturday and he's a very happy biker.
He's a friend that has wanted that bike from Day one!
It looks like (after I sell my wife's Heritage) I'll be down to my Tri-Glide and my Heritage Springer.
We haven't had that few bikes in the garage for decades!!!
Thanks for your interest.
