The stock wiring was long enough, about 4-6" extra. I removed the stock sensor and put it in my new bars. I have a picture trail in the touring section.
I looked at your posts where is this one - whats the title???
https://www.hdforums.com/m_2282044/tm.htm Here's one. Type throttle sensor in the search featur with me as the author and you might find some more pics

I have found that the bars on 08 serk to be extremly comfortable. I also just purchased a low profile road king windshield,I think I should have bought the standard size for New England fall riding. The serk is all around a GREAT ride. kb

The 08 SERK handlebars are perfect for me but I was having trouble with leg cramps so I put a pair of highway pegs on them and they work great. Great Bike

I'm 5'9" own a standard 08 RKCand was thinking about replacing the stock bars with the 08 SERK bars. I like the fat look. Sounds like some owners are quite happy with the feel.

The book says they are 2" higher than stock but does not say if the reach is reduced??They sort of look likewild1s 518 bars. Also, are my cables and wires long enough?

Thanks

I asked the same question here but didn't receive a reply as the product is so new.

So I bought the 2008 SERK bars for my 2008 RKC "sight unseen" anyway. I have to say that it's one of the best things I've done. Reach is slightly better than stock (i.e. the bars are closer to you), and they sit higher. The position is very, very good, and the fat nature of the bar gives your motorcycle's front end a nice chrome makeover. Install diamondback braided lines at the same time and you'll be very happy with the result, both visually and practically.

Go for the SERK fat bars. You won't be disappointed. I'm not computer-literate and I don't know how to post photos. Sorry.

I think the 08 SERK handlebars are about perfect. In fact that is one reason that I bought the bike because it fits me so well. i am 5'8 with 29 inseam. I had a 2006 Road King Classic and the bars were terrible. Even though I switched bars to the Heritage bars, I still couldnt get a good fit, and I ended up with sore neck, arms and back. I ended up not riding it, and selling it.

I have also added a mid-low profile windshield ( The original 14 inch smoked is pretty, but also pretty useless)

Thanks for the response guys....

Phantomxrt,

I spoke to the dealer yesterday and he said the SERK bars are an 1 1/4" all the way around and theRKC has a 1" bar clamp so I would need adifferent clamp for my bike. Apparantly aftermarket 1 1/4" bars neck down to 1" at the clamp point. He said the 1 1/4" clamp wouldbe big bucks. Is this true, what did you end up with? You said you changed the lines but is it really necessary?

Thanks

I test rode the serk and agree the bars felt cramped , as long as you dont go to radical the bar swap isnt bad with the 08 fbw

Your dealer is right about the diameter of the bars. But the all-round diameter of the SERK bar provides a higher element of strength (and hence reliability) than some of the cheaper aftermarket offerings. He is also correct in that it will cost you some. But in my view of the world, cost is relative. I love the product and I love the look of the new front end, and I just re-prioritised a couple of things so I could afford to get it done.

OK, here's what you need:

A. 56032-08 SERK handlebar ($208 from Chicago H-D)
B. 32310-08 new throttle sensor kit ($72 from CHD)
C. 56789-05 riser kit for the 1 1/4" clamp point ($96 from CHD)
D. 67893-02 handlebar cover to accommodate the wider clamp point ($56 from CHD).
E. 57202-08 ironside grips (obviously this was a personal choice, but if you're going to get sexy new bars then you don't want dowdy black OEM grips)

With regard to the lines, there is NO NEED to change out the originals. I chose to do it purely from an aesthetic perspective. I had all that fancy chrome up front, and the diamond lines were a personal choice. And braided brake lines provide greater braking specificity than OEM expandable rubber/poly ones. The lengths etc were all exactly the same as the OEM ones.

Best of luck mate.
