Default Crooked FXDSE2

This is a weird problem I can't figure out.&nbsp\\; I have a 2 week old FXDSE2 and absolutely love everything about the bike...looks, performance, torque, speed, cornering ease...I have 700 miles on it so next week I will be visiting my HD Dealer with this problem but want to hear from this forum before going there.

When&nbsp\\;I have the bike parked on level ground and point the wheel exactly straight ahead, the distance between the tank and the top of the triple tree is different on each side.&nbsp\\;The left side is closer than the right side...about 3/4 inch difference.&nbsp\\; Visually everything looks fine.&nbsp\\;While on the road, the distance between the top of the tree and the right and left side of the tank is equal but the top of the tree is crooked, scewed right.&nbsp\\;The scoot tracks perfectly and I can't feel anything wrong but for $26,000 this should not be happening.&nbsp\\; I don't want any BS from my dealer and request the collective wisdom of this forum for an answer.&nbsp\\; This one has me confused as to why this is happening.&nbsp\\; FXDSE2&nbsp\\;

i have an 07 and i would have similar problems.&nbsp\\; i only noticed it after the washer replacement from the dealer.&nbsp\\; i waited two days and called back..&nbsp\\; i stared at the bike and looked through the manual and really could't find a logical solution and told myself that i am drawing too much attention to the front end after they worked on it.&nbsp\\; the serivce writer asked the mechanic and he said he didn't think there could have been anything he did to affect the straightness.&nbsp\\; i think when he torqued the new washer on to 50+ lbs he held the bar and tweaked it ever so slightly.&nbsp\\; tracks straight and doesn't pul to either side.&nbsp\\; it's on the list for the next time in the shop.&nbsp\\; please post if you get it fixed.

Me Too, I have a 2008 Screamin Eagle Road King Classic and everything is good but the right side of the triple tree and handle bars are closer to the tank??? Took me a while to notice, not sure how to tell the dealer for fear they will tell me you looked at the bike during delivery and ok'd it for looks and scratches.

If the bike tracks, and the front end does not bind in any way - my feeling is that the front end will square itself up.
The trees square up to the head tube, and the tubes square up in the trees, finally the axle squares the wheel up between the tubes.
There is not much room for error in any of these places - however - a crooked tank mount would cause a different look, without affecting performance.
That being said - 3/4" is a huge error and I can't imagine HD would miss it by that much.
Try to ignore the trees and see if the tank mount is welded square to the backbone.&nbsp\\; If it is - perhaps the mount tabs are bent?

Good Luck.

OK,&nbsp\\;I have the answer:
There was a crooked technician,
Who assembled the crooked Triple-tree,
And put a crooked wheel, &nbsp\\;
Upon my Dyna-HD\\;
I bought a crooked scoot,
Which drove a crooked mile,
And we all rode together,
With a little crooked style.
[/b]
&nbsp\\;
Today I called HD Headquarters and was put on hold for 90 minutes and finally got a human voice.&nbsp\\; After explaining the problem and telling her of this BLOG and that others had the problem, she proceeded to tell me it was impossible for HD to release scoot this way.&nbsp\\; Bottom line she did not believe me.&nbsp\\; She told me if the HD Dealer did not see this as a problem then it was not a problem and I had no recourse other than to take it to another dealer...Blah, blah, blah.&nbsp\\; I asked if they ahe any mechanical technicians at the main office (a bit of a dig but she was not being nice) and she said yes, of course.&nbsp\\; I asked her to ask one of them and she did.&nbsp\\; Five minutes later she returned and said the tech said this model has had that problem and it is a matter of adjusting the front wheel...seems that it is an alignment problem somewhere in the initial assembly.&nbsp\\; The Tech said is was not a safety issue but I should take it to my HD Dealer for immediate repair.&nbsp\\; I was given&nbsp\\; a Request ID # 875287 and told to have the HD Dealer call and refer to that and there would be instructions on how to proceed with the repair...SO Joseph206, Screamin1 and YellowTed you all should be able to do the same thing.&nbsp\\; FXDSE2 Jim

Funny poem....and good work. It's aggravating as a consumer to have a representative of a company like HD be so rude and un-customer friendly on the phone\\; especially when someone pays $26k for a bike in an economy such as we are in. When will these companies learn that the customer is always right and customer service is of utmost importance. Harley or not, they need to stand behind their products and treat the customer like they are gold. Im glad you got the problem resolved....too bad you had to twist the reps arms before you got results...good luck.

Problem fixed, fork slider plate torqued at factory into misaligned position, HD dealer pushed on it until it reset itself...now straight as an arrow.&nbsp\\; FXDSE@
