Angry Handgrip slid off

I was riding in New Mexico yesterday and my right handgrip slid off on my 08 SE Ultra. Almost caused me to lose control of the bike. Anyone esle had or heard of this problem?

Not with my right grip.

My left handgrip broke loose about two months ago, I went to the local shop and they had some adhesive to glue it. Worked for about 12 days out of my 15 day trip, but I hit a rough patch on the slab when I was holding onto the bars like a maniac (because I saw the rough patch coming my way but at about 80 mph I wasn't going to do anything but go right over it...)

Sure as hell, the left grip broke loose again when I hit that patch. But it didn't come off the bike... No chance of losing control. It's a PITA, but I figure I'm going to get some serious adhesive and try to patch it back up again.

Never heard of the right grip coming off the bars, though. Best of luck with that.

For your right grip to come off, something had to break. It's not glued on, but held on by the right side switch housings.

My right grip spun around over a months time and pulled the wire harness apart for the heated grips. The service dept. pulled it off and plugged the harness in but it still can be twisted around with steady pressure. The glue is not holding it in place. Don’t need the heated grips for now as the temperature gauge on the bike read 120 today.

The right grip on my 08 SEUC works it's way out as well. Never to the point of coming off though. I just push it back on tight every now and then.

I replaced grips on another bike once. Dealer said hairspray was the best thing to use, instead of glue. I thought he was nuts, but he was right. worked like a charm.

I don't think you want to glue your right grip.

Or, poor man's cruise control, I guess.
