Pass on it. All the H-D's owned over the years the only time I needed warranty service was a battery croaking on my Dyna one week before the standard warranty was up.
I purchased the Factoryextended warranty. 7 years unlimited miles for around $1700. I plan on riding alot of miles, it is a new motor, a new 6 speed and has alot of electric "stuff" felt it was a good investment. I retired from the car industry and believe in factory extended warranty's. The value is that Harley charges the same price for the screaming eagle ultra extended warranty as a basic electric glide.
I did. New motor, tons of electronics, plan on keeping the bike forever. Wouldn't take much of a motor problem to equalthe cost, especially if you're not a wrench.
I did on a 2002 flhrsei 2 seats 1 motor mount -4 lifters-cam chain fuel injection idle circuit repair Plug wires Exhaust bracket 60,000 miles other than add on I haven't had to do to much
The bike comes with a 2 year warranty....if you ride it, any real problems are likely to come up within the 2 years. The extended warranty is really a bet by HD that they won't have to pay out anything. Extended warranties are rarely worth what they cost!
Something else you need to be aware of is that HD looks for about any reason not to honor the warranty, even getting ridiculous about it! I've heard horror stories about the warranty on the engine, for example, not being honored because some totally unrelated part was changed, etc. Something to think about!
I agree but this time I did buy it. Not so much for the engine changes but for the electronics. I've heard too many problems with the HK system and it is very expensive. I've had my SE Ultra since Sept of 06 and already had the radio replaced. I would not be surprised to see it happen again, possibly a few more times over the next 7 years. Unfortunately they just weren't designed well enough for a bike.
There are a few other issues that concerned me so I went ahead this time. I am very careful not to make changes to void the warranty.
In the end, I hope it was a waste of money though. Having the bike in the shop is not desirable, warranty or not. k
There are many 07 owners with warranty issues that the MOCO are refusing to act on.How many threads have been posted since early fall that owners have been told its Normal, put ear plugs in,what noise?Your pipes are suppose to glow in the dark, your lugging the motor,Harleys are suppose to vibrate like that, stalling, surging, you need a SERT,pipesand so on.Its been 6months for or so for some and the MOCO keeps feeding them the bull. Now everything is due to striking workers, lack of parts and manpower.HD has problems this yr and it starts from the top and filters down.Owners are being told if your not happy, get rid of bike.Takeyour 2yr and no more.If the bike turns out to be a piece of ****,get rid ofit like more are planning to do.
