Default Speedometer cable interchange

I have a 78 FLH and need a speedometer cable. Right now the bike is torn down, but I intend to start putting it back together tomorrow. Anyway, is there a speedometer cable that will fit it from some other application? I haven't gotten the old one out yet. I'm curious if I can get one from auto zone or some place that will fit it. Thanks!

Did you look at J&P Cycles? I needed one for my 1980 Low Rider and just ordered one from there this week. They've probably got an exact fit (but check your manual to make sure you know the exact OEM p/n).

Yea, I got one. I was just hoping there was something I could get at a local parts store or something.

keep your original outer cable if its still good...i ordered a new cable for my '82 flh and the screw in bit that goes into the front wheel was a smaller diameter than the original. I had to re use the old outer with the new inner cable .

Nope it's specific to the FLH bikes , ain't gonna find something at the box stores sorry. What's wrong with your's the old tranny driven cables are pretty hardcore.

I thought the cable was bad. My speedo only goes to about 25, and it's not linear.
