81 fxs, stock 80" with ultima 53-644. Bike is newish to me and was running like a top until all of a sudden it started firing on rear cylinder only. Plugs good, wires good, coil good. Does not move when switching plug wires. Checked ignition and decided to check timing for giggles.
My question is this, lights on ignition will cycle at power and bike will start. When I go to set timing with module I get no light no matter how far I turn. I can get light to come by pulling slightly outwards from cone on ignition so short somewhere, right? Is there a certain wire out of module I should look at or could it be any? Any other ideas?
remove the unit and look at the back to see if the trigger cone is or has been hitting the standoffs or the base of the unit and grounding out
we did see one a while ago that the cam end play washer was not installed and the cam moved out and came in contact with the unit
but it can be switched to duel fire as it sounds like its set single fire - BUT the coils that come with the kit is total garbage we throw then away with the box it comes with I don't even open the coils box

Ok I'll pull it Monday ( it's my weekend to work ) and check
Its set dual. Can I ask why you say it sounds like it's set single? Not doubting, just wondering what points you that direction?
Not sure if the coil is the questionable ultima product as it was on bike when I purchased it. I have another known good coil to try as well
Anyways, thanks for suggestion and I'll give it a look
No doubt, test the coil. When I installed the Ultima ignition during my EFI conversion, it lasted about 33 miles before the coil took a **** and was only firing on one cylinder.
don't know about you all but I haven't had good luck with any of ultima products they would send me a coil supposedly three ohms it start the bike one time and then drop to two and a half ohms ultima coils suck they won't hold the power

Gotta know... how ya checked Ohms under power?? or am I reading something into this...for Ultima.[Chiwanese] .. I would think that a half an ohm either way is pretty good... Not good enough for me... But... I don't buy Ultima...

take it to auto zone they check a half ohm lower than three will not start a 93 cu in shovelhead
end up paying a hundred thirty nine dollar for an S&S oh man it really work

Hmmm I don't know how a Lower Ohm will make a no Spark condition... 93 Cubes...at what Compression ratio?? That ain't really that big...
S&S don't Make coils... I would need to find who they are sourcing those from before I tout them... but... if Working... Cool.
I really Like the Dyna Coils...or O.E. if not Racing...
