Will Street Bob shocks be too stiff for my 79 FXS?
As the title says. Someone's selling a pair of 12" shocks off a 2011 Street Bob. The cheap aftermarket shocks on my FXS pretty much are springs on a stick.

Springs on sticks ... yep, that's kind of how mine work too :<(
Aren't stock shocks 12"? I don't want to raise the back. Anyone use 12" Dyna shocks on an FX? Thanks!
12" on Typical [post Round Swing Arm] 4-speeds... 13.7 or somesuch on FXR's... excepting maybe some "special Models"
I do Not recall what shock was on the FLT/FLHT... The MoCo changed the "stance" by various front fork Lengths...[and this is what accounts for different Rake/Trail numbers] Warning... Going "short shocks" on any 4-speed jeopardizes the Starter Housing ... ie Chain eats the thing!!! Luckily... I do Not like the "Tail Dragger" look.
I bought a pair of Dyna 12" shocks and they fit my 79FXS perfectly. The ride is so much better than it was before that I am considering riding this bike to Florida!
I can't help you because I bought the bike with old 11" shocks and got ride of them right away. I can't imagine 40 year old original shocks being any good though. If you are asking if Dyna shocks would work on your bike, then certainly!
